Nearly every day we hear of one more way a church or Christian leader has compromised, embracing worldly viewpoints and sin, bowing to those idols. This is nothing new. For all throughout the Bible we see people bowing left and right to anything but Him.
Have you also have compromised in some way? Have you embraced what people around you believe in or bow to, rather than standing on the Word as your Truth and following Christ’s lead alone in what you say and do?
Cleansing of the church begins within our own hearts.
Don’t bend the Word to fit your will. Bend your will to fit the Word!
2 Kings 17:7-23
Let’s renew our covenant as the bride of Christ. We are betrothed to Truth; now let’s all-out live for Him! Let’s pray for our pastors and other leaders, that they will pursue oneness with Christ like never before, and our churches will rise up to be the beacon of Light we were created to be in this dark world, so the fallen and the lost around us will be drawn to Love like moths to a flame. May Light grow now. Not the darkness.
Oh, God, give us passion for the things of Your heart. May we shine for You so brightly, the darkness hightails it and runs. Don’t let us be distracted by the things of this world. Instead, distract us from this world with Your majesty and glory. Astound us with Your love. Reach into our hearts and transform us so dramatically we never want to return to our sin ever again. Bind us to Your Word, O God. For only what You say is Truth. Reveal to us all we need to know to live out what You command and become who You say we are in You. Show us what You’re doing all around us, and gift and empower us to join You in Your work. Set us apart to be a people after Your own heart. Lord, You created us for abundant life, not the meager scratchings of temporary fulfillment. YOU are Life. YOU are Hope. YOU are Peace. You are our Everything. You told us to seek You first, “and all these things will be added” to us. (Matthew 6:33) So, why do we chase what only brings us down, when You are here to lift us up with Your love? Set us free to run in the love, joy and peace that come from walking in Your Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-25) True fulfillment in life only comes from You. And truth is only found in Your Word. For YOU are Truth, Jesus. Teach us to walk as one with You, not trying to twist Your words to condone our sin, but reordering our lives to match Your Word instead. Make me like a ring on Your finger, bound to You and pointing to Your glory, as You work amazing things by Your hand. I want to shine for You, to show off Your beauty so vividly, everyone who sees Your love in me will leave whatever they’ve been chasing and fall in love with You. Use me, O God, as an agent of Your love to show this lost and dying world who You are and help lead them to the Truth. John 14:6. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
