Pray for the USA Headlines

Two cyclists from a small Christian college in Tennessee died when John Benfield, 69, drove his car into them Wednesday. Four of the seven Milligan University cyclist team members injured in the assault are in critical condition.

One died and more than 130,000 homes were left without power when Hurricane Lala hit Hawaii a few days ago. Now, another tropical storm is on its way.

At least seven died in several days of storms and record flooding in Indiana. Thousands of people are still without electricity. Several churches are giving away food to those in need, including Greater Destiny Bible Church in East Chicago and Gospel Truth Apostolic Ministry in Gary.

Wildfires rage in California, Oregon, Idaho, Alaska, Florida, Colorado, Washington, Nevada and Montana.

A 16-year-old boy and four adults were murdered in Missaukee County, Michigan last weekend. The shooter also died. One 13-year-old girl survived and is in critical condition.

Several other mass shootings and stabbings have occurred over the past few days in Hopkins, Minnesota; Omaha, Nebraska; Virginia State University; Saint Louis and Kansas City, Missouri; Cleveland and Cincinnati, Ohio; Sparta, Georgia; Harford, Connecticut; Lexington, Kentucky; and Houston, Texas.

Father, please have mercy. Heal the wounded, comfort the grieving, rescue those in danger and provide for those in need in such a way they will know it is You. Give every person grieving or otherwise affected by each of these situations above a deep hunger for You. Meet them in their dreams, talk to them throughout the day, and when they cry out to You for help, answer them, O Lord. Bring Christians into their path to powerfully show them Your love and preach the Gospel. Answer every prayer like only You can. Lift the veil from the eyes of the lost so they will see You as You truly are, and give them courage to believe. Show Christians ways they can reach out to their neighbors in this time of need. Make them a safe place where people know they can go for kindness, protection and help. Empower believers to share Your Good News in a way the lost can easily understand, and save whole families and neighborhoods by Your grace. We ask especially for those responsible for harm and murder. Break the chains that bind John Benfield and others to enemy purposes, and set them free to see You as You truly are, hear Your good news and be saved. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
