Indonesia: Two Earthquakes in One Day

A 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit just off the coast of Indonesia’s predominantly Catholic Flores island yesterday, toppling buildings and forcing 2,000 residents to flee their homes. At least 47 have died, and many people are still missing, trapped inside fallen buildings and behind landslides. A second 6.9 quake struck Indonesia’s western Sumatra island later the same day.

  • Pray God will comfort those who mourn and provide for all their needs in such a way that they see Jesus and open wide their arms to receive Him.
  • Pray for miracles by God’s mighty hand, especially healing for the injured and multiplying food and other supplies. Pray rumors of His love and power will run throughout all the camps for displaced families, and God will place within every heart a deep hunger for Jesus that drives them to seek Him until they find Him.
  • Pray God will send Christian aid workers to help those in need, open up safe opportunities for them to share the Good News with the lost, and protect them from persecution and harm.
  • Pray the whole nation of Indonesia will awaken to God’s love, that Muslim extremists will lay down their hatred of Christians to receive Christ’s love, and those who follow tribal religions will burn their fetishes and let Perfect Love cast out all their fear and save them.
