Rescue from War, Ferries and Earthquake

Let’s pray for survivors and those engaged in rescuing victims from these world tragedies:

COLOMBIA: The death toll from Monday’s earthquake has risen to more than 265. Rescues are still underway—a man and baby, and a woman after 36 hours are just two of many miraculous stories.  

INDONESIA: A Bali ferry fire killed one and prompted the rescue of 212 others yesterday in the Lombok Strait. More than 200 rescue and evacuation personnel have been deployed to continue the search for survivors.

ZIMBABWE: A ferry carrying more than its limit of 90 capsized in Lake Kariba Tuesday, killing at least 44 and leaving dozens missing, while 77 were rescued.

UKRAINE: Recent estimates say that more than 16,000 Ukrainian citizens detained by RUSSIA are still being held, many of those enduring torture, sexual violence and other ill-treatment. (Edith Lederer, AP, August 11) In addition, President Zelensky claims NORTH KOREA is sending 50,000 troops and supplying ballistic missiles to RUSSIA.

Lord, please be with rescuers searching for survivors in each of these situations. Point them to those who are trapped or in danger, and give them wisdom to know how to safely help them. Rescue those who are missing. Protect those in danger. Heal those who are wounded. Comfort those who have lost loved ones. Be near to the hurting. As they struggle, speak tenderly to them. Pour out Your love over them in powerful ways and help them so they know it is You. Make a way for Your good news to reach the lost in a way they can easily understand and receive. Open the doors wide for Christian aid workers to come in bringing food, medical supplies, counselors, doctors and others to help families through each crisis. We speak LIFE over the children, Lord, in Your precious name. PEACE over these countries. And most of all, SALVATION for the many dying daily without the knowledge of Christ. Make the way for every person all throughout these devastated lands to hear the gospel and receive You as Savior. Use Christians in their midst to shine Your love and peace, bringing hope and showing mercy. May Your Kingdom come to them soon, Lord, before it’s too late. Awaken this world to Your love. Draw every person up into Your arms and save them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
