INDIA, PAKISTAN, AFGHANISTAN: At least 82 people died in flash floods and landslides due to recent monsoon rains. More than 650,000 in Assam state, India have been affected.
CHINA, HONG KONG: Typhoon Noel forced more than 715,000 from their homes this weekend in Guangdong. The storm follows Typhoon Bavi July 11 in eastern China, Typhoon Maysak July 3 in southern China and other storms and flooding.
USA: Heavy rain and floods caused destruction in parts of West Virginia (two dead), New Mexico, Idaho, Tennessee, North Carolina and other states over the past few days.
FRANCE, SPAIN: More than 300,000 have fled as wildfires rage near Bordeaux, France and Madrid, Spain. At least one man died in Manises, Spain.
GERMANY: One person died and at least 16 were injured, several critically, when a van rammed a crowd in Tiergarten park, Berlin, where hundreds of thousands had gathered Saturday for a Pride festival. Several people were also stabbed. Police are searching for Islamic extremist suspect Abdul B.
WEST BANK: More than 80 suspects were detained, after violence this weekend left two ISRAELI soldiers and four PALESTINIAN villagers dead. Six others were wounded.
UKRAINE, RUSSIA: At least 15 died this weekend in strikes from both sides, including five children at a holiday camp in Kyrylivka and civilians in Sumy. Another 19 were wounded. At least 258 combat engagements erupted across the frontlines in just 24 hours.
IRAN, USA, SAUDI ARABIA, YEMEN: Iran-backed Houthis attacked commercial vessels Friday and Saudi sites on the Red Sea coast Saturday.
Father God, please comfort those who mourn, heal those who are injured, rescue those in danger, bring an end to conflict, and give wisdom to those in power as they deal with each of these situations. Bring Abdul and all terrorists to justice, but most of all, awaken them to Your love. Steal into their dreams, meet them throughout the day, get up in their face, invade their space, and show them who You truly are. Tear down every wall, remove the plaster from their spiritual eyes, and let them see You. Give them a hunger for You so deep they will lay down religion, hatred and violence, and surrender to Your love. Be a Shield around every Christian and protect them from persecution and harm. Give them favor with their neighbors and family members, and connect them with other Christians who can help them. Build their faith and deepen their intimacy with You. Bless Christians so abundantly by Your hand that they will have more than enough to share with their lost neighbors, and then open up conversations that lead to You. Catch hearts on fire for Your purposes, O God. Begin a church planting movement in each of these countries that spreads out across nations, turning every heart to You. Change the face of the land, so that what once was a spiritual desert now flows with streams of Your Living Water. May every heart taste and see that You are good and surrender to Your grace and love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
