China Floods, Hamas Steps Down, Sri Lanka Battles, Venezuela Grieves

CHINA: Storms, tornadoes, floods and landslides hit central and south China, killing at least 15, injuring 330, damaging nearly 5,000 homes, and affecting hundreds of thousands of people. Northern VIETNAM was also affected.

GAZA: As part of the US President’s 20-point peace plan, Hamas dissolved its government Monday in preparation for the transfer of power to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, a transitional, technocratic, apolitical Palestinian committee. This is the first change in government since Hamas violently took over the country in 2007.

SRI LANKA: At least 26 died and more than 100 were wounded in Negombo prison clashes Sunday.

VENEZUELA: The death toll in last month’s twin earthquakes is now up to 3,685, with about 16,500 injured and more than 17,300 left homeless.

Loving Father, please rescue those who are trapped, in danger or missing. Heal those who are injured, comfort those who mourn, provide for those in need, and rebuild the lives and homes of those who have lost so much. In the midst of terror, bring peace through Your love. Speak to those who fear for the future, and show them Your plan for their salvation. Do all these things in such a way that they will know You are the One who did that. When they cry out to You, answer them. Protect the children, feed the hungry, heal hurting hearts and provide safe shelter, electricity, food and water for those without. Place within every soul a deep thirst for You. Remove every barrier that has kept them from salvation and give them courage to choose You as their Lord. Bring loving Christians to them to share Your Good News. For Christians who are homeless now or who have lost loved ones, please carry them through this difficult time like only You can. Renew their strength and empower them to encourage others around them who are also hurting, offering them hope, a safe shoulder to cry on, and the way to salvation. Bless Christians so abundantly they will also abundantly bless others in need, as they share Your good news with the lost. Bring forth a mighty movement of Your Spirit all across each of these areas, leading thousands to faith in You. Open the eyes of the spiritually blind to see You as You truly are, and awaken every heart to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
