The things that hold you back from the deeper things of Christ can loom big and tall at times. Like FEAR. Fear you’ll have to give something up. Or fear of what others will think of you if you dive into Jesus’ arms and start truly living what you believe. Fear of what He might ask you to do. Fear you won’t get things done that need to get done if you take time to be with Jesus. Fear of how those closest to you will react to how God is changing you.
But Jesus is GREATER. He’s towering over that barrier right now with His arms open wide to you, saying, “Say the word, and I’ll crush that mountain under My foot, and grab you up into My mighty hand, where you can rest in My love, and I will shield you from your real enemy. For I am not the One you should fear getting close to. I am not the One you should fear obeying. I love you, and I am for you. Satan is not, and neither is that fear that drives you away from Me.”
Fear of the Lord is not being afraid of what He will ask you to do or of how odd you might look to others if He controls you. That is PRIDE.
Fear of the Lord is knowing you’re in the presence of the HOLY ONE and SURRENDERING to Him so completely you wouldn’t dare not obey.
Lord, show us the lies we have believed that disagree with what Your Word says. Chase out all our fears with Your perfect love, and teach us to fear only You. To be so in love with You, so humbly aware of Your presence that we wouldn’t dare NOT obey You, for fear of missing out on Your blessings and the joy of Your felt presence and empowering. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
