More than 235 are confirmed dead and about 4,500 injured after two simultaneous 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude earthquakes rocked Venezuela at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, mainly in Greater Caracas, La Guaira, Aragua, Carabobo. Hundreds more people are still missing, trapped beneath the rubble of crumbled buildings.
About 26 minutes later, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Kuji, Japan. And earlier that morning, a 5.6 shook Northern California.
Lord, please rescue those who are trapped, comfort those who mourn, heal those who are wounded, and draw all eyes to You. Draw near to those on edge, those who can’t sleep for fear of yet another earthquake. Visit the lost in their dreams, speak to them throughout the day, show them how short their time on Earth is and how desperately they need You. Bring Christians and Bibles to them to show them the way to salvation. Cast out their fear with Your perfect love. 1 John 4:18. Open the way for Christians to speak truth, show love, share Your gospel message, and bring medical and other aid, as well as godly counsel to those suffering from trauma. For only in You is there Peace that passes understanding. Philippians 4:6-7. Provide fuel, shelter, food and water in such miraculous ways those in need will know it is from You. Strike every heart with a fierce hunger for Truth and Love. Be larger than the mountains, stronger than the earthquakes, gentle as a dove when You answer their prayers and bring them salvation. Awaken California, Japan, Venezuela and all of Latin America to You, O Lord. Use this time of difficulty to bring forth great good, with millions coming to faith in You and thousands of churches planted. May they see Your glory rising over their countries like the sun, as You draw them out of darkness into Your light. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
