High Schools Awaken

Praise God, His Spirit has been sweeping across our nation, awakening young people to Christ. We’ve shared about revival among university students. But now, a movement has begun in high schools, as well.

Hundreds of teenagers made decisions for Christ on May 8 in Columbus, Ohio, at Unite High Schools, a special city-wide event organized by UniteUS.

Students walked in carrying anxiety, fear, heaviness, questions, and pain. We watched high schoolers lift their hands, surrender their lives, repent, pray for one another, respond with boldness, and make public decisions to follow Jesus!!

This generation is not too far gone.
They are not forgotten.
They are not alone.

God is moving in high schools, and Columbus gave us a glimpse of what happens when students say yes!

“Last night I tried to end my life, but tonight I decided I want to live and go all in with Jesus,” declared one teen.

“We’ve been to 70 schools and seen over 2,000 salvations in two years and we’re just getting warmed up!!” another evangelist, Ross Johnston, wrote on X May 9: “Last night was supernatural. I’m not sure I’ve seen a response at a public high school like this before. 125 students gave their (lives) to Jesus!! Watch for yourself… I even heard testimonies of staff members from the school coming to the altar and weeping under the presence of God. Then I met a girl who had been sexually abused by a pastor and she told me that this was the first time she ever felt connected to Jesus and surrendered her heart to him. I’m telling you, these are the days of awakening!! God is saving our generation! PS: if you want this at your school send me a message. We are traveling to every state and every city to proclaim the gospel til every student has heard!”

One public high school in California where Ross and his team ministered is known for violence, drugs and gangs. In fact, just a few days before they arrived, two students were arrested. “It is exactly where we wanted to go to preach the gospel!” Ross said on X (April 29). “The dark places are a divine setup for the kingdom of God to be seen! We preached at two lunch periods back to back and saw close to 70 salvations.”

Lord, we thank You for these lives that have been changed by Your love. Please grow each one deep in faith, strong in love, empowered by Your Word, and emboldened by Your Spirit to share the good news with everyone around them. Purify them, Lord. Set them free from the thoughts and sins that have entangled them. Renew their minds and give them the mind of Christ. Teach them not to trust in what people say or even their own thoughts and feelings, but to seek You every moment, asking You what You want to do in every situation and following You there. Heal these young people from sexual sin, addictions, anxiety, trauma, selfishness, apathy, fear, pride, low self esteem and all other strongholds that have bound them. Cancel every plan of the enemy in their lives and be a Shield around them, with Your Word the Sword in their hands and faith dousing the flaming arrows of the enemy. Cover them in Your righteousness, and their minds with Your salvation. Bind them with Your truth that sets them free. And give them beautiful feet that tread the paths You take them on, sharing the gospel and bringing peace. Ephesians 6:10-20. Teach them to pray without ceasing, handing every situation to You so You can lead them through. Proverbs 3:5-6. Raise up this generation as a holy generation, set apart for You, no longer swayed left or right by what they are told, but searching out the scriptures to know the Truth and walk in it. Bring forth from among them leaders who will lead the nation into Your arms, who will preach the good news, calling the lost to repentance and Your church to holiness. Whatever they set out to do in Your name, Lord, do it through them and for them. Pour out Your Holy Spirit on their lives and hearts and circumstances, using them as shining lights for Your glory in the midst of this present darkness. Perform miracles and signs and wonders. Guard for them the godly wives and husbands You have prepared for them, and bring forth strong marriages and families filled with faith and love. Give them Your dreams and visions. Speak through them words of Life. When they cry out to You, hear them, O Lord, and answer. Make everyone who meets them see the difference You make in their lives and hunger and thirst for Your love. Bring forth a great awakening to You in every high school and homeschool and online school all across this nation, a movement of Your love no one can stop. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
