Rededicate 250

Nearly 250 years ago, the Second Continental Congress set aside a special day of fasting and prayer on May 17, 1776, asking God to forgive the sins of the people of this nation and to bring forth peace and freedom, with God as our foundation. 

In the spirit of our nation’s first leaders who called us to fast and pray, Rededicate 250, a nationwide celebration of prayer, praise and thanksgiving, will be held at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 17, 2026.

Hosted by Freedom 250 and the America Prays Initiative, the event is a part of a call to prayer given by President Donald Trump for the rededication of the USA as “one nation under God” in the weeks leading up to the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation on July 4th.

The Ask: What if one million Americans dedicated one hour a week to praying for our country and our people?

The Invitation: Will you join with at least 10 people to meet each week for one hour to pray for America?

The Opportunity: As we celebrate 250 years of freedom, this is an opportunity to rededicate ourselves to the principles that gave birth to this land of liberty. As George Washington famously said in his Farewell Address, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.”

The White House, America Prays

Father God, our nation has strayed from the values we were founded upon. Please forgive us. Seek out every heart that has turned against You and turn us back to the One who gave His life so we can be free. Thank You for our forefathers who, with courage, faith and wisdom, fought for the freedoms this country now enjoys. We have squandered those freedoms with our pettiness and even blocked or reversed some of those freedoms. Remind us of Your Sovereignty, Lord, and of the privilege we have of life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness. Show every heart in this country that You are the only One who can give us that fulfillment and meaning in life we all so desperately pursue. Turn our hearts back around until we drop every lie, and You are the One Truth we believe in. Re-establish this nation on the firm foundation of Christ, until every heart can truly say, “In God we trust.”

We Your people call forth now, in the name of Jesus, a Great Awakening like never before in history. Awaken this nation – awaken the whole world – to YOU. Redeem us like only You can, and set us free. Even now, the enemy is pitting every scheme possible against Your forces of Light. But You, O God, are the FORCE to be reckoned with! Show Yourself strong in the sight of all nations. Do glorious things we never imagined possible, and rescue us into Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
