PAKISTAN: Christian nurse Razia Noreen, who risked her life to rescue the only infant to survive last month’s Islamabad hospital fire, was awarded the Star of Service award and 10 million rupees. Lord, we praise You for Razia’s courage, and for the beautiful way You used her to save this child’s life. As others talk with her about the event, open up opportunities for her to freely and safely share Your love with those who don’t yet know You.
CANADA: 11 Christians fleeing persecution in IRAN, who illegally entered the USA to seek asylum, were deported to PANAMA last year, where they were allowed to stay for a time. At least one, Artemis Ghasemzadeh, 27, has now been sponsored by a Canadian couple and granted asylum on Denman Island. Lord, thank You for giving Artemis a home, and for this couple who is sponsoring her. Please be a Shield around her and all Iranian Christian refugees. Keep them safe from harm. Give them favor with authorities in the countries where they have fled, and bring them safely to the place You have chosen for them. Use them for Your glory to shine Your love everywhere they go. We also ask You for Christians still in Iran who face severe persecution, that You will quickly bring an end to the war, and raise up leaders for that country who serve Your purposes, blessing the people of their country, rather than oppressing, torturing and killing them.
USA: When a group involved in witchcraft heard Christians were gathering to watch the livestream of Pastor Matthew Olson of First Baptist Church, Sharon, Mississippi —who marathon-preached through the entire Bible for 96 hours straight — they also went to the gathering, but with the purpose of invoking curses on him. By the time they went, he had already preached for days and felt so exhausted two men had to hold him upright. As he preached through Romans, the occultists invoked curses on him to choke, for his throat to fill up with blood, etc., fully expecting him to die. But instead, the Lord renewed his strength and spoke through him a message just for them. As a result, one of the witches chose to believe in Jesus. (Jon Brown, Christian Post, July 31) Lord, we thank You for calling Matthew to do this and using him for Your glory. Thank You for snatching this woman’s life from Satan’s hands and saving her. Be a Shield around her now, keeping her from enemy attacks. Set her free from every stronghold and addiction. Transform her so completely her satanist friends will long for the love, peace and joy they see in her and choose to follow You, as well. Break the chains that bind them to demons, and open the way for them to hear Your good news and be saved.
ZIMBABWE: About 27 died and seven others were injured in a head-on collision last weekend, when a heavy truck carrying mining equipment from SOUTH AFRICA hit an overloaded minibus taking members of the African Apostolic (Mwazha) Church to a conference. Lord, please be with the family members and friends who are grieving now. Comfort them and draw them closer to You. Use this somehow to share Your good news with those who don’t yet know You. For the Christians who were injured, please heal them, Lord, both in body and mind. Let them feel You near and trust in You more than ever before.
