CHINA: Pastor Gao Quanfu, 69, his wife Pang Yu, and Pastor Tang Bingyi, all three leaders of Light of Zion Church, a house church in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, have been charged with “fraud.” They face a possible 12-13 years in prison for receiving voluntary offerings and purchasing spiritual books. ISRAEL: Palestinian Christian Rami Fadayel, from the West Bank, was released August 20, after 32 months in an Israeli jail without charge or trial. While detained, he was beaten daily and denied access to an Arabic Bible. (Daoud Kuttab, Christian Daily International, August 25)
CAMEROON: Boko Haram militants attacked the village of Mahout, Mayo-Sava, close to NIGERIA, on August 10, abducting two Christians from two different churches. (Tim, Open Doors UK, August 19)
PAKISTAN: Christian Neha Faqir, 18, left her home in Kot Radha Kishan, Punjab, March 24 to attend a sewing course but never arrived. Her family says she was abducted and forced to convert to Islam. They petitioned for her return, but a June 9 court dismissed the case. Eleven US Congress members are now urging the Pakistani government to take steps to rescue her. Lord, please arrange the quick and safe release of Neha, the two Cameroon believers, Rami, Gao, Pang, Tang and all other Christians held against their will or under false charges. Please be a Shield around them. Surround them with Your angels and make those angels visible to persecutors. Cover them with Your peace and love, empower them to share Your good news with the lost around them, cast out fear with Your perfect love, provide for all their needs, and protect them from all persecution and harm. Give them grace to forgive their persecutors and wisdom in all they do. Grow them in faith, love and the knowledge of Your Word. Make every believer a bright light in the midst of such darkness, and bring forth Your purposes in each of these countries. Give each of their persecutors a hunger for Truth so deep they will seek You until they find You. Meet them in their dreams and in visions throughout the day, showing them the way to salvation is only through Jesus. Twist their hearts with such agony over their sin they will fall at Your feet in fear of the Lord, surrender to You and be saved. Awaken China, Israel and Pakistan to Your love and truth. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
