As unrest continues in the Middle East, let’s pray for protection over those longing for freedom from Iran’s terrorist regime, where increased detentions, disappearances, torture and executions of ethnic minorities have been reported. Perhaps 24 Balochs and 22 Kurds have been executed in recent months. (AFP, Times of Israel, August 6)
Last year, Iran executed at least 2,159 people. In January this year, 30,000-40,000 people were killed in two days amid protests. Since then, arrests, executions, torture and forced confessions have continued. Two men detained in the uprising, Abolfazl Sepahi Badjani and Amirhossein Safari Hosseinabadi, were publicly hanged in Alikhani Square in Isfahan July 28. A crowd gathered to stop the hanging, but were quickly dispersed, with several arrested or wounded. (Alex Winston, The Jerusalem Post, August 6)
In addition, Iran-backed Houthis killed 58 military personnel in missile and drone attacks Thursday, and injured dozens more in Yemen. Across the border in Saudi Arabia, they wounded 11 civilians.
- Pray for persecuted minority peoples, especially the Balochs and Kurds, that they will cry out to the Lord and He will answer them and show them the way to salvation through Christ. Pray they will long for His love, and He will transform whole households and villages.
- Pray for those who have lost loved ones, that as they mourn, God will meet them in powerful ways and comfort them. Pray the veil will be lifted from their eyes and they will see Him as He truly is and surrender to Jesus.
- Pray for protection over the innocent, for the quick release of political prisoners, and for thousands forced to serve terrorism to now repent and serve the One True God of Love and Freedom.
- Pray for angels in the midst of battle, fighting for the peoples of Iran, Yemen and Saudi Arabia to know the Living God.
- Pray Houthis and other Iran-backed terrorists will be confronted by God Almighty in such powerful ways, they will lay down their weapons of violence and choose Jesus.
- Pray terrorism will fall and God will raise up leaders who care for the peoples of Iran and other Muslim nations to rule the nation with love, integrity, wisdom from God, truth and freedom.
- Pray Christians will rise up as light in the darkness during this time of unrest, following the Spirit’s lead and pointing the lost to true salvation and freedom.
- Pray every heart will hunger for Truth, bravely seek Christ, experience Him in powerful ways and be saved. Pray lives will be so transformed by His love, everyone around them will notice and also hunger for Jesus.
- Pray the veil will be lifted from every Islamic extremist in power or fighting for the terrorist regime, and they will see Christ as He truly is. Pray God will meet them in dreams and visions to point the way to salvation, and they will bravely lay down their false religion of violence, terrorism and murder, repent and turn to the One who is Life, the Truth who sets them free.
