UGANDA: At least 23 children and one adult from the King David Junior School in Kampala died in a bus crash, after an excursion to see Sipi Falls on Thursday.
NORWAY: A fire on the edge of Drammen Friday destroyed 100 homes; more than 400 people were evacuated.
ALGERIA: A fire in an orphanage in Mohammedia Thursday killed 11 children and injured 19.
CANADA: 900 wildfires are raging across the country, about 750 of those out of control. Thousands have fled their homes.
THAILAND: A fire at a Bangkok music bar last week killed at least 33 and injured dozens of others, with 17 hospitalized in critical condition.
EUROPE: Perhaps as many as 14,000 died in June’s heatwave.
CHINA: A landslide in Chongqing Friday morning killed at least eight, with 34 missing.
VIETNAM: Flash floods and landslides on Friday killed at least five in Lai Châu and Lào Cai, with others still missing.
USA: Floods in many states, including Ohio, Texas (two dead), New York; fires in Oregon, Colorado, Minnesota, California, Washington and other states.
Loving Father, please protect rescuers and firefighters and give them wisdom. Rescue those who are trapped, heal those who are injured, comfort those who mourn, provide for those in need, and rebuild the lives and homes of those who have lost so much. Do all these things in such a way that they will know You are the One who did that. When they cry out to You, answer them. Protect the children, heal hurting hearts and provide safe shelter, electricity, food and water for those without. Place within every soul a deep thirst for You. Remove every barrier that has kept them from salvation and give them courage to choose You as their Lord. Bring loving Christians to them to share Your good news. For Christians who are homeless now or who have lost loved ones, please carry them through this difficult time like only You can. Renew their strength and empower them to encourage others around them who are also hurting, offering them hope, a safe shoulder to cry on, and the way to salvation. Bless Christians so abundantly they will also abundantly bless others in need, as they share Your Good News with the lost. Bring forth a mighty movement of Your Spirit all across each of these cities and countries, leading thousands to faith in You. Open the eyes of the spiritually blind to see You as You truly are, and awaken every heart to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
