Sometimes, we pray so fervently for what we want, God actually gives it to us, even though He had a better plan. 1 Samuel 8.
We weren’t created for everything to go our way here on earth. We were created for oneness with Christ.
In this world you will have trouble. It is a promise. John 16:33. And if you love Jesus, you will most certainly be persecuted in some way. 2 Timothy 3:11.
But your Creator is about much higher things than just your earthly comfort or success. Although He does want to bless you, the exciting adventure in prayer happens when we seek God’s heart on a matter, pray in His leading, surrender to His will, obey His instructions, and watch the miracles unfold.
What does God want in your present situation? Have you asked Him yet? It may not be what you think.
Whatever you’re going through right now, if you feel God isn’t answering, ask Him what He IS doing, and then join Him there. If you’re not sure what that is, remember HE IS ALWAYS DRAWING YOU TO HIMSELF. So step toward Him. Don’t skip your quiet times. In fact, set aside longer times with Him, even go away on a personal spiritual retreat. Dig into the Word. Pray. Worship. Walk out in what He says. Love Him and love others all the more. Is there anyone you haven’t forgiven? Forgive them. Is there something He’s asked you to do you haven’t done yet? Do that. Is there a promise He wants you to cling to? Walk out in it. Look for every way you can obey. If you go through this trial in His arms, you have already overcome. Romans 8.
