SOMALIA: Sofia Ahmed, a former Muslim, chose to follow Jesus in March, but when she recently shared the gospel with her uncle, Sharif Hussein, he rallied other Muslim relatives to beat her with sharp objects. When concerned neighbors came to the rescue and called the police, officers arrested four of Sofia’s assailants, but her parents advocated for their release because she had left Islam for Jesus. Despite mounting hospital bills and pressure to renounce her new faith, Sofia remains firm. (Morning Star News, June 5)
Lord, thank You for saving Sofia and using her as light in the darkness of so much hatred and violence. Heal her wounds, provide for all her needs, and open for her a safe place to live. Pursue Sharif and all of Sofia’s relatives in their dreams and in visions throughout the day, showing them Christ is the only Way, Truth and Life. Bring them to their knees in repentance and surrender to You. And save them. Protect Sofia from further attacks and use her to bring many lost into Your kingdom.
INDIA: A dozen cow vigilantes (protectors of cows, which are considered sacred in Hinduism) disrupted a Mass in the Catholic-majority village of Kalinjara last month. Under Rajasthan’s new “anti-conversion law,” 14 Catholics and a Protestant were arrested, even though no unbelievers were present at the prayer mass. Bent on arresting 100 unnamed people, police have been raiding Christian homes. (MSN, June 4)
Lord, please protect every Christian in Rajasthan. Rise up and fight for those who are in danger. Get up in the face of each cow vigilante, police officer, prosecutor and judge, and show them Your glory. Strike them with such fear of the Lord that they drop all charges, lay down their idols and follow You as the One True God. We ask You, Lord, for a reversal of the anti-conversion law. Bring forth freedom of religion in Rajasthan and in all of India. Make the way for every person to hear Your good news and be saved.
INDONESIA: A mob led by Islamic jihadists blocked a church from worshipping at their new location in Panggungharjo village Special Capital Region of Yogyakarta on Sunday, May 24. (MSN, May 29)
Lord, please protect every Christian in Indonesia from persecution, and use them as lights for You in the midst of deep darkness. Open the way for freedom of religion in that country so Christians can freely worship You and lead the lost to faith. Visit each of those jihadists and every Muslim in their dreams and show them the way to salvation. Give them courage to leave their false religion of hatred and violence and choose to follow the One True God of love.
