IRELAND: Violence broke out in Belfast after Hadi Alodid, a Sudanese national, attacked Stephen Ogilvy with a knife, seriously injuring his back, eyes and face. Protesting crowds then set fire to cars and homes, leaving both immigrant and local families homeless.
AFGHANISTAN: PAKISTAN killed 13-26 people in airstrikes on Khost, Kunar and Paktika Wednesday. Since February, hundreds have been killed in fighting between the two countries.
SOUTH AFRICA: At least 12 died and nine were injured in a mass shooting by more than ten gunmen in Jumpers Informal Settlement on the edge of Cleveland, Johannesburg, Tuesday night.
UKRAINE has recaptured more than 232 square miles of territory from RUSSIA this year.
Lord, please heal Stephen and the others wounded in these attacks, and provide for those in need. Give the lost in these nations a hunger for You so deep they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. Bring loving Christians to them to show them how high and deep Your unfailing love and grace go. Empower them to share Your good news in a way the lost will easily understand. Lift the veil from the eyes of those who have been blinded by religions that do not lead them to Christ, and open their minds and hearts to see You as You truly are and receive You as Lord.
We also ask You, especially, Father, for Hadi in Ireland, the gunmen in South Africa, and militants from both Pakistan and Afghanistan. Break the chains that bind them to satan’s plans. Bust through their walls and flood their darkness with Your light. Meet them in their dreams. Talk to them throughout the day. Make them come face-to-face with the Living God, so they will drop their weapons in fear of the Lord, and choose Your Word as their sword, and faith in Christ as their shield. Ephesians 6:10-20. Crush the enemy’s plans, Lord, and bring forth a mighty movement of Your Spirit all across these countries and the world, awakening churches to spread Your gospel and rapidly multiply. Give them a craving for freedom so fierce they will turn to You and be saved.
For those mourning loved ones who have died in these attacks, wipe their tears by Your tender touch. Let them feel You near them. When they cry out to You, answer them and comfort them. If they do not yet know You, draw them to Yourself to be saved. For those who do know You, empower them to shine Your love and peace in the midst of this crisis, comforting others and drawing them into Your arms. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
