ETHIOPIA: Terrorists have launched several deadly assaults against Christians in the East Arsi Zone of Oromia Region over the past two months. More than 20 Christians were martyred in February in separate attacks inside a church and against Orthodox Christians. In March, yet more Christians were martyred, homes looted and families displaced. (International Christian Concern, April 14)
IRAN: Pray for the safety and well-being of political prisoners during the present war, including at least 48 Christians. Some have been transferred to other locations, potentially near military targets. Many have been denied access to food and water or made to “disappear.” Shots were fired at prisoners fleeing Greater Tehran Penitentiary, after it was damaged in an air strike. Several of the at least 16 Christians imprisoned in the notorious Evin Prison are elderly and suffering from health issues, like convert from Islam Nasser Navard Gol-Tapeh, who suffered a stroke in solitary confinement. In January, the present regime executed around 40,000 people, some of those Christians. (Article 18, March 12)
BELARUS: Greek Catholic parishes have been ordered to liquidate. (ICC, April 16)
CHINA: Zhang Shaojie, a pastor from Nanle County, Henan Province, detained since 2013, was released in November 2025, after serving his 12-year prison sentence.
Lord, thank You for Zhang Shaojie’s release after so many years of imprisonment. Please be a Shield around him and every believer in China, Ethiopia, Iran and Belarus. Surround them with Your angels and make those angels visible to persecutors. Comfort Christians mourning the loss of loved ones, heal those who are wounded, rescue those in prison, bring peace to those living in fear, provide for all their needs, and give them boldness and Your Spirit’s empowering to share Your love with the lost. Give them grace to forgive their persecutors, wisdom in all they do, and grow them in faith, love and the knowledge of Your Word. Make every believer a bright light in the midst of such darkness, and bring forth Your purposes in each of these countries. Awaken Iran, Ethiopia, China and Belarus to Your love and truth. Give every heart such a hunger for You they will seek Truth in earnest and find Jesus. In that holy name. Amen.
