Christian Mother and Daughter Killed in Gaza

An Israeli attack that hit a building in Gaza City’s Remal neighborhood on Saturday killed a mother and daughter known for their help with displaced people sheltering at Holy Family Church during the war.

The funeral for Christians Mary Hafez Michel Najjard and her daughter Maysa Khader Ibrahim Abu Daoud was held later the same day at St. Porphyrios Greek Orthodox Church.

About 650 Christians remain in Gaza. Tomorrow marks three years since the Gaza-Israel war began. Perhaps 62 Christians have died, a few because of sniper fire or lack of food and medical care. But most died from airstrikes hit the churches where they sheltered.

Lord, thank You for Mary and Maysa’s servant hearts and the ways You used them to help those in need these past three violent years in Gaza. Please comfort those who mourn and let them feel Your presence with them. Chase out fear with Your perfect love, and be a Shield of protection around every believer. Deepen their faith and give them hope. Heal their hearts and minds. Surround them with Your angel armies and keep them from harm. Be for them a mighty, impenetrable Fortress. Provide for all their needs and use them as light in the darkness, drawing lost Palestinians and Israelis into Your love. Save by the thousands, even millions, every lost Jew and Muslim. Awaken Gaza and Israel to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
