IRAN: All eight Christians arrested June 9 in an Isfahan home raid have now been released. Six still face charges for leading house churches. (Open Doors Canada, Facebook, September 3) Lord, thank You for this answer to prayer. Please protect them, strengthen them, heal their wounds, fight for them, bring forth truth and justice, and make the way for their complete acquittal and freedom.
KYRGYSTAN: Government officials want to seize a Christian property where more than 1,000 children attend camps annually. The pastor requests prayer for an upcoming court session mid-September. (Voice of the Martyrs USA, FB Sept 8) Lord, please fight for this church, these Christians and these children. Bring forth justice. Move officials to uphold the Christians’ deed to the land and forbid anyone to steal it. Give the judge and others involved Your mind on the matter, so they will rule according to Your purposes. And use this case to shine Your light and love through these Christians to all involved in such a way that the lost will hunger for You.
YEMEN: Rasha believed in Jesus and led her mother Laila and sister Asman to the Lord. When Rasha’s father found her Bible, he beat her and excommunicated all three from the home. (VOM Canada, FB Sept 8) Lord, please provide for Rasha, Laila and Asman’s needs, and use them to shine Your light and bring hope to other women who feel trapped in abusive situations. Empower them to share Your good news with the lost. Fill them with so much love, joy and peace that many will come to faith through their witness, including Rasha’s father.
PAKISTAN: Reena was kidnapped earlier this year and forced to convert to Islam and marry her abductor. Her family obtained a court order for her release, but when they went to pick her up on July 8, the abductor’s family wouldn’t let her go. The police eventually intervened, and now Reena is free; but her family is in hiding because of threats from her abductors. (VOM, July 3) Father God, please protect Reena and her family from abuse and attacks. Give her abductor such remorse for his sins he will fall to his knees in repentance and seek Your salvation. Meet him in his dreams in such powerful ways he will turn from his false religion of violence and rape, and choose to follow the One True God of Love.
NIGERIA: On Easter Sunday, Muslim extremists attacked Victoria’s village of Ariko, killing at least seven and kidnapping 33. She and her three children, Sonai (12), Patience (6) and Christy (4). were taken, and while in captivity, Victoria gave birth to a fourth child, who only lived three weeks. Last month, she and her children managed to escape, but Christy was ill and had to be carried. The family walked barefoot through the bush for two days without food or water, but the child died from her illness. (Open Doors UK, X, August 16) Merciful Father, thank You for this miracle that Victoria and her family escaped. Please heal their bodies, minds and hearts now. Give them courage to forgive their enemies, and strengthen their faith. Protect them and all believers in Nigeria from abduction and harm. Surround them with Your angels so when Muslims come against them to do evil, they see those angels with their very eyes, and fall to their knees in repentance and fear of the Lord. Open the eyes of every Muslim in Nigeria to see You as You truly are and surrender to Your love.
CHINA: Pastor John Cao finished his seven-year prison sentence more than two years ago, but is confined to a small area under constant surveillance, and the government has refused to return his passport, which means he cannot return to the US to be with his wife and family. Now he is fighting Stage 4 prostate cancer. Advocates are urging US President Donald Trump to address his situation with President Xi Jinping when they meet September 24. (Read more here.) Lord, thank you for all the ways Pastor John has so faithfully served you so many years, Please heal him and strengthen him now. Protect him from persecution and empower him to continue sharing Your good news and shining Your love to everyone around him. Quickly make the way for him to return to his family and get proper medical care before it’s too late, please, Lord. We ask this in Your name. Amen..
