Lord, we need You. Desperately. Please come and invade our marriages. Step into the secret places in our hearts where we have built barriers, and tear them down. Empower husbands to rise up and cover their wives, to fight for them, to love them with the love that You have shown Your bride, the Church. Give them courage to lead their families in prayer, Bible reading, worship and ministry together. To be present. To serve their wives in humility and love. To help their wives raise the children up to know You, love You and walk in oneness with you. Give wives the mind of Christ. Keep them from distractions and focus them on You. Give them understanding for their husbands, humility and Your Spirit’s guidance as they respond in difficult situations. Show them what You’re doing through their husbands and how to join them, submit and bless them. Deepen communication between husbands and wives. Wherever there are mindreads and assumptions, give couples courage to ask, “When you said …, did you mean …?” Fight for us, O Lord. Clear up misunderstandings. Empower us to pray for each other and to fight for each other’s freedom. Place our trust in You. Step in and be our Everything, until everything we do is all about loving You, loving each other through Your love, and loving others together to draw them into Your Kingdom. Overcome our struggles. Win all of our fights. Remind us what it’s all for, that it’s not about me and what I want or need, but it’s all about You. Show us how to love the one we married as You have loved Your bride and gave Yourself for her. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
