Ministry can take its toll on kids, especially if parents are so involved in their work they don’t take vacations or spend daily and weekly quality time as a family.
In counseling missionary families whose children have walked away from the Lord or made other devastating decisions, I have found that, most often, the children who excel in life have parents who purpose to spend meaningful quality time together with them on a regular basis.
Let’s pray for families in missions and other ministries, that the Lord will open up deep, meaningful times together, and children will grow up knowing Him and loving Him with all their hearts. Pray for fathers to make time for their children, to play with them, listen to their hearts, love them and train them up to walk in oneness with Christ.
Pray for pastors, ministers and missionaries you know personally, that God will provide for all their needs and show them just the ways He wants them to spend quality time together as a family. Pray He will open up vacation time and miraculously provide just the venue and finances for that. Pray their marriages will thrive, and their children will feel loved and grow up in oneness with the Lord and others, used by Him in powerful ways.
And while we’re at it, let’s pray the same for our own families.
