As we walk through this Passover week, remembering yesterday our King’s triumphal entry, and then how He was tortured and killed by the very people He came to save, let’s remember our sisters and brothers throughout the world who are facing persecution and death for their faith in Christ….
Lord, we ask You to be a Shield of protection around believers and their families throughout the world who are facing threats, restrictions, interrogation, heavy fines, torture, imprisonment, death, and other persecution for the sake of the Gospel. Keep their faith strong, and shine Your love and truth through them to their persecutors. Help them forgive and speak with Your words, like You promised in Matthew 10. May those who seek to do them harm be struck with true sight so they can see You as You really are and fall on their faces before you, just as Paul did on the road to Damascus. Open up every heart to hunger for the God of love, and give Christians wisdom to speak in a way those around them can easily understand. Protect the families of those who have been arrested. Don’t let hurt or harm come to them. Comfort Your servants, Lord, and send to them Your ministering angels to hold them up under trial and bring forth Your glory. Deliver them, O Lord, from evil. Open up gates of escape, portals for them to break loose and run to freedom. Don’t let them die in their chains, but do a miracle in every situation, like You did for Your servants in the New Testament, when You opened the cell doors and Your angels escorted them out. May Your name ring out all throughout the Earth this week that You alone are God. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
