Day 3: The Church

30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening

Verses for contemplation: Matthew 28:18-20

The deeper the darkness, the brighter His Light shines in the midst of it, drawing all men to Himself. Let’s join together today to pray for the church to be that light.

Suggested topics for prayer:

• That we will humbly surrender to God.
• That we will be a people of prayer, listening to God and walking out in obedience to Him.
• That churches will grow in true discipleship, every believer mentored to follow after Christ.
• That we will have the mind of Christ.
• That we will be one. (John 17)
• That He will set us free from our strongholds and the things that hold us back from His empowering.
• That we will burn with passion for Christ and boldly share His Good News.
• That He will anoint us, empower us with His Spirit, His love, His words.

Prayer starter:

Father God, please forgive us for we have sinned. We have let worries and selfish desires overcome us and take precedence over faith and surrender. Our pride and fear too often guide our decisions. Remind us what it means to be humble. To love You with all our hearts and love others as You first loved us. In our churches, so many are hurting. Judgment. Bitterness. Unforgiveness. Apathy. Manipulation. Lust. Pride. Please, set us free! We need good, solid discipleship, where those who love You with all their hearts and live as Your Word says step out in front to point the way for those of us who are weak. Teach us to listen to Your voice, follow You and influence others to do the same. Teach us to truly love. To have grace for one another, seeing each other through Your eyes, not through the lies and mindreads the enemy wants us to. We need a realignment with Truth, a powerful manifestation of Your Word that topples every lie and restores to us the mind of Christ. Set us free from pride and every stronghold. Only then will the world see You in us and know we are Christians by our love. Call us out of our places of comfort and apathy. Give us a passion for Your purposes. Lead us out into the world to preach the Good News, to love the lost into Your arms and to disciple every believer in Your Word and way. We need You, Lord. We acknowledge we cannot do this on our own. It is only through Your Spirit’s power that we will accomplish Your Great Commission to take the Gospel to all the Earth. Teach us to pray. Use us to love. Give us courage to obey, to go wherever You’re taking us, and doing You whatever You’re leading us to do.

Parallel Prayer: Our 30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening coincides with Ramadan. March 11-April 9, Muslims throughout the world will be fasting and seeking God. Let’s pray they find Him! If you know personally of Muslims in your nation or community, pray for them by name.

Lord, today we ask You for Muslims who hunger for You but have been afraid to seek You. Show them where the hidden churches are where they can find You. Bring Christians to them to show them Your love. Give them courage to seek You out on the internet and to look for Christians on social media who will share Your Good News with them. Satisfy their hunger with the Living Waters of Your love flowing through them each time they hear Your name. Visit them in their dreams. Show them the way to the cross, where they can die to all that has led them astray and come alive to the One who is the Way, Truth and Life. Use Your church in powerful ways to shine for You so brightly, even Muslims bent on persecution will repent and be saved.

Dinner and a Prayer: Each day during these 30 days, we will share with you ideas for special family prayer times, including a suggested menu to go with that day’s prayer theme. Today’s suggestions:

If the Lord leads, have your children ask the pastor (or other minister) what his favorite meal is, and then prepare that for dinner tonight. Ask him for specific prayer requests you can lift up to the Lord for him and his family. Better yet, invite the pastor’s family for dinner and pray for them in person.
