Leading through Love

Satan wants to keep us so busy with even good causes that we forget the eternal things that matters most. 1 John 4:8. How much we accomplish or how great others think we are won’t amount to anything in the end. Only how well we loved. 1 Corinthians 13.

So many marriages, families, churches, teams, companies and organizations have fallen apart because leaders are more concerned with rules or control than with truly caring about those they lead and serve.

Lord, today we want to ask You for parents, pastors, missionaries and other leaders and influencers to follow Christ’s example, leading not through control or fear, but through selfless love. Make us courageous to stand for the things of Your heart, to sacrifice our own selfish desires to serve those You have given us to love. Teach us to seek You first before making decisions, to see others through Your eyes, to ask You what You’re doing and follow You there, to love as You first loved us. Make us faithful to our spouses, patient with our children, encouraging to those God has placed under our care. Remind us to shine You every moment, to begin our days with prayer and Scripture poured over those we lead, with lives surrendered to the One this is all for. Teach us to walk so surrendered to You, following You every moment all throughout the day, that those around us will “catch” that fire of oneness and humility and walk surrendered to You, as well. Philippians 2:1-11.
