At least 15 people have died and more than 10,000 are now displaced by flash floods in Chongqing, China. Zhenba County in Shaanxi Province also reported extensive flooding. More areas throughout the nation already reeling from a heat wave expect both soaring temperatures and heavy rainfall in coming days.
China is home to over 1.4 billion people and at least 445 unreached people groups cut off from the Gospel of Christ. Because of closed churches and intense surveillance, interrogation, imprisonment and worse of Christians, it is considered one of the most dangerous countries in the world for those who seek to follow Christ.
Lord, please have mercy. Heal the land, rescue those in danger, comfort those who mourn, and provide for those in need. 1 John 4:18. Deepen the faith, hope and peace in the hearts of Christians affected by these floods, and provide so abundantly for them in their time of need that they will reach out to the lost around them, abundantly blessing them and sharing the Good News of Your love with hungry hearts. Raise up Christians from underground churches throughout China to rush to the aid of those in need. Open Christian homes to receive and house those who have been displaced. Send evangelists to share the Gospel with those who have yet to hear it, and prepare every heart as fertile soil, so when the seeds of Your truth are planted, they will take root, salvation will spring up from the ground, and a great harvest of many souls will come from such devastating circumstances.
Shield Christians and churches from persecution and harm. Give them courage to fight for the things that matter through the power of Your great love. Open up safe ways for believers to communicate with one another and meet secretly without government surveillance or interference. Hide them under Your wings, Loving Father, and build up Your church in truth, love and faith. Raise up leaders who will spread Your Gospel far and wide, and multiply every church by the thousands. For every Christian who is persecuted, bring 1,000 lost souls to faith. For every church that is forbidden to meet, plant 1,000 more, until Your glory fills all of China, and Your name is praised from every corner, every home, every heart, every tongue all throughout the land, and even beyond to all the world where Chinese reside.
Lord, please guide the thoughts and actions of every person in authority in China. Bring down those bent on evil and raise up in their place leaders who will follow You, bless their country and the world and open the way for those who are lost to find You. Give every person in China such a hunger for You they will seek You with all their hearts and find You. Open the way for Your Word to be translated into every language of every tribe. Raise up Christians to cross every barrier to boldly share Your love with the lost, living among them, speaking their language, and overcoming every trial and hindrance with the power of Christ. Make the Good News available to every heart, family, and community in a way they can easily understand. Don’t let even one more lost person die without the chance to receive Your Gospel. Visit them in their dreams. Talk to them throughout the day. Awaken every heart to Your grace. Cast out their fear with Your perfect love. Yes, Lord, bring forth a great awakening to Christ all throughout China.
