After traveling 5,000 miles across the Indian Ocean and slamming Madagascar and Mozambique a couple of weeks ago, Cyclone Freddy twisted around to plow into Mozambique a second time this weekend, killing at least 20 (as of 3/16) people before moving on to Malawi, where around 200 (3/16) have died, and the numbers continue to rise.
O Father, please have mercy on the peoples of Mozambique and Malawi. Heal the wounded, comfort the grieving, rescue those who are trapped, provide for those in need, give them shelter, restore their electricity and water supply, pull back the floodwaters, rebuild their homes, and show Yourself loving and merciful on their behalf. Give every person a hunger for You. Meet them in their dreams, talk to them throughout the day, and when they cry out to You for help, answer them, O Lord. Bring Christians into their path to powerfully show them Your love and preach the Gospel. Answer every prayer like only You can. Lift the veil from the eyes of the lost so they will see You as You truly are, and give them courage to believe. Be a Shield around every Christian in these two countries, protecting them from persecution and harm. Build their faith, knowledge, and understanding of Your Word. But especially build them in love. Show them ways they can reach out to their neighbors in this time of need. Make Christians a safe place where people know they can go for kindness, protection and help. Empower believers to share Your Good News in a way the lost can easily understand, and save whole families and villages by Your grace.
