Day 13 of 30: Africa (North-West-East)

30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening

Bible Reading: Psalm 42

So many of the countries in North, West, and East Africa have been ravaged by violence, poverty, hunger, persecution, and disease. Please have mercy, Father. Feed the hungry. Bring water to the thirsty. Heal the sick. Provide a way of escape for those who are in danger. And do it, Lord, in a way that turns all eyes to You. Steal into every heart and remake it with Your love and grace. Be a Shield around every believer and seeker of You all throughout this region, especially in the 13 countries rated among the most dangerous places to follow Jesus. Provide for their needs, comfort their families, and protect them from persecution and harm. Strengthen them in faith, forgiveness, love, and the Word. Give them courage to share their faith with the lost, and give the lost such a hunger for You they will lay down everything to receive You as Savior. Some persecutors are Muslim, others are from Orthodox traditions, and still others worship spirits or are of different tribes. But every one of those persecutors needs You. Penetrate the walls of hatred, fear, prejudice and allegiance to the enemy. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are, lay down their weapons and surrender to Your love. Perhaps 700 people groups remain unreached in this region. Raise up believers who will cross every barrier to love them into Your arms. Provide for their needs so abundantly they will supply provisions to those who have not yet heard of You, bringing Your Good News together with such a bountiful demonstration of Your love, many will turn to You and be saved. Give every person of every tribe, tongue and tradition a hunger and thirst for You, and provide Your Word in all their languages, so not even one more person will die without hearing the truth about Christ. Raise up Christians with a heart for the different peoples of this area who will pray for them and brave the barriers and dangers in order to take them the Good News. Carry them through each difficult situation, and ground their faith so deep in You they will shine like beacons of light in the darkness. Raise up Christian influencers who will be given places of authority to bring about positive changes in these countries, blessing the people and granting them the freedom to worship You and fulfill Your good purposes for their lives. Whatever the enemy has set forth to destroy, destroy him, O God, and rebuild those people’s lives. In all the places where he has killed, bring healing to those families. Confront persecutors in such a way that they will tremble in fear and fall to their knees in surrender to You. You’ve done it before, God. You’ve opened the eyes of the violent to see Your angels blocking Christians from their blows. You’ve healed the sick and raised the dead. You’ve provided homes for the orphans, and food and loving care for the hungry. We ask You now for more, please, Lord. Do not let even one soul feel forgotten by You. You see them. You know their hearts. You created them for Your glory. Save them, O Lord, by Your mercy, and heal them.

Parallel Prayer: Our 30 Days of Prayer for Global Awakening coincides with Ramadan. April 2-May 1, Muslims throughout the world are fasting and seeking God right now. Let’s pray they find Him!

Lord, today we ask You for Muslims in Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, The Gambia, Mali, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, Liberia, Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Chad, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Djibouti, South Sudan, Senegal, and Cabo Verde. Don’t let them go even one more day without experiencing You in deep ways. Visit them in their dreams. Talk to them throughout the day. Bring Christians into their path to tell them Your Good News and show them Your love. Let them see You at work in people’s lives, transforming them as they turn to You, and soften their hearts to long for Your love. Break down the walls they have built against knowing You. Shine so brightly through Christians that the lost can’t help but see that You are the One they were created for. Knock the weapons from the hands of persecutors. Freeze their hands when they lift them to beat a Christian. Douse any fires Muslims set in Christians villages. Protect every Christian from evil attacks in such dramatic ways — even opening their eyes to see armies of angels blocking their advance — that they will drop their weapons and fall to their knees in fear of the Lord, surrendering their lives to You. Open the way in every country in this region for Your love to flood the deserts of people’s hearts with springs of Living Water that spread out and flood everyone around them, drawing them into Your grace and salvation. Lord, many Muslims in this region are reaching out over social media to find Christians to tell them about You. Some are beaten when those messages are found on their phones. Protect them, Lord, and don’t let anything hinder their search for You. When they seek You, make the way for them to find You and be saved. In Your name. Amen.

  1. Father God, Lord over the continent of Africa, As I turn my thoughts on You, and Your Lordship over Africa, I put myself in agreement with the powerful prayer Mikaela prayed over this nation and people. Sometimes, Lord, we have a tendency to forget there are flesh and blood people in these countries. These countries aren’t just black and white names on a map or on paper. Africa is so large that it’s hard to wrap my mind around its size and all the different people groups. Lord, it all boils down to the fact that since You love the people of Africa, I put myself alongside You, and ask that You give me Your love, vision, burden, intercession for Somalia, Libya, Eritrea, Nigeria, Sudan, Egypt, Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, Morocco, Central African Republic, Burkina Faso, Niger, Tunisia, Ethiopia, Congo, Mozambique, and Cameroon. People, Lord. People who need the Lord. People need the Lord. Father, by the power of precious Holy Spirit, May conviction, repentance, and transformation sweep over the nations I’ve listed above plus others who are included in the whole name of Africa. The beauty and vastness over these nations remind me of the lavish love of Christ for all. Your love cannot be compartmentalized. It’s hard for me to fathom it all but all I really have to do is trust You. You are limitless. Your love is unending. Thank You. Awaken the hearts of those who don’t know You, of those who have never heard the Good News, of those who have initially rejected You, of those who are idolatrous, agnostic, animists, those who do not believe or follow the One True God. Conviction, Repentance, awakening and salvation. May a Spirit of Conviction and Repentance be poured out upon every heart. Over the years, You raised up mighty men and women of God-evangelists who invested their lives and resources to plant seeds and even see harvest. Increase and multiply, Lord. Only You can. Withhold the darkness that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. You came that Africa would have life and have it abundantly. I love and bless You in the Name of Jesus-the name that is above every name. Amen.
