Lord, we pray for the 17 missionaries (including children) who are being held hostage for ransom by gang members in Haiti since Saturday. Be a Mighty Shield around them, holding back the enemy and caring for all their needs. Protect them from harm and fight for them. Reveal to rescuers the location where the hostages are being held, and make a way for their safe escape and the downfall of this gang. If the Christians are in the same location as hostages from previous kidnappings, open up the way for believers to impart encouragement and share Your Good News with the other prisoners. Open up the hearts of the lost to hunger for You and be saved. Fill that place with Your angels and the power of Your felt presence to such levels that the kidnappers see the joy and peace in the missionaries and long for that. Rise up and show Yourself strong. Haunt the captors’ dreams, take over their thoughts throughout the day. Give them courage to ask questions about You, and then flow through the Christians to share Your Good News with such a demonstration of love, forgiveness and Your Spirit’s power that all will see You as You truly are, drop their greed and weapons, tremble in fear of the Lord, and be saved.
