Oh, Father, please have mercy. Make a way for peace to come to this country. Steal into every dark corner and illuminate it with Your light. March in Your armies, God of Love, and fight for those who have no way out. Haunt persecutors in their dreams and in vivid visions in broad daylight. Bend their hands and fingers backwards when they aim a finger or a weapon at the innocent, so that they drop their weapons and flee in fear. Pull their legs out from under them, break down their vehicles, make their weapons malfunction, fall apart, not work at all. Perform miracles and signs and wonders to turn every eye to You. Confront every person bent on evil, like You did Paul on the road to Damascus, and bring them to their knees before the One True God. Father to the Orphans, Husband to the Widows, Protector of the Oppressed, be a Shield around everyone in danger, and provide their way of escape. Protect young women and children from rape and murder and battering and forced marriages. Distract every violent offender in such loud ways they cannot carry through with their intended evil. Lord, our hearts break for the terrorists who terrorize their own country. Have they not known love and its power? Have they never seen peace nor known kindness? Oh, Father, save their souls, please. Meet them where they are like only You can. Cut through all the demons, demolish all their strongholds, and rescue them from Satan’s clutch. Begin such a revival among their war camps that every heart will turn to You. Be so great and mighty before them that You become the topic of every conversation, and Your Gospel is widely spread, as You lead the lost to You and then use them to share Your truth fearlessly with everyone around them. So many martyrs, Lord. So many have died just because they exist. So many Christians have been martyred just because they love. So much death. Bring death to death in that country, God. And usher in a new era of Life. Do it in a way that all the world will see and be amazed. You are the God who split the sea and brought Your people across on dry ground. You can make a way once again for the trapped and pursued. We ask You now, God of Mercy, for the Way. The Truth. The Life. To come to Afghanistan. To awaken every heart. And turn it to You. In Your name. Amen.
