A couple of weeks ago, my daughter, a friend and I all had similar dreams in a row. In each, there was something precious we had longed for or worked hard for through God’s leading that He did indeed bless us with; but the enemy craftily distracted us so he could break in and steal that treasure.
In my quiet time, I went back into the dreams together with Him and asked Him to show me whatever He wanted. (See Victory Strategy #39 “Cleanse that Nightmare” in Dare to Be a Mighty Warrior and Delight to Be a Woman of Wonder.) As I journaled together with Him through these dreams, He impressed upon my heart how important it is to not just take every blessing He gives us for granted, like, “This is mine now,” and then neglect it to chase after something else; but to enjoy our blessings fully, watching over them in diligent prayer.
When we cover the precious gifts God has given us in prayer,
- He places a shield around that blessing.
- He holds back the enemy so we can see distractions for what they are, turn our back on the enemy’s plans, and enjoy and treasure what the Lord has blessed us with instead.
- He defeats the enemy; what the thief planned to steal is now safe in God’s protection.
Is there a precious gift God has given you that He is calling you to enjoy to its fullest and diligently cover in prayer? A marriage? A child? A ministry? A home? Freedom from a sin habit or addiction? Healing? Something else? What will that look like to step out in obedience? Ask Him.
Lord, thank You for answering my prayers and giving me such tremendous blessings. Forgive me for getting distracted and running after yet more blessings from You without truly enjoying and covering in prayer the ones You have already given…..
Step into your quiet time to continue your prayer, and ask the Lord to speak to your heart and guide you as you pray. He’s so close right now, just a prayer away.
