Careful What You Pray For

Sometimes, we pray so fervently for what we want, God actually gives it to us, even though He had a better plan. 1 Samuel 8.

We weren’t created for everything to go our way here on earth. But for oneness with Christ. In this world you will have trouble. It is a promise. John 16:33. And if you love Jesus, you will most certainly be persecuted in some way. 2 Timothy 3:11.

But your Creator is about much higher things than just your earthly comfort or freedom. Although He does want to bless you, the exciting adventure in prayer happens when we seek God’s heart on a matter, pray in His leading, obey His instructions, and watch the miracles unfold. 

What does God want in your present situation? Have you asked Him yet? It may not be what you think.

Whatever you’re going through right now, if you feel God isn’t answering, ask Him what He IS doing, and then join Him there. If you’re not sure what that is, remember HE IS ALWAYS DRAWING YOU TO HIMSELF. So let Him hold you. If you go through this trial in His arms, you have already overcome. Romans 8.

Lord, what are You doing in the midst of this trial? Sometimes, my eyes are so fixed on what the enemy is doing, I forget to look for what YOU are doing. For You are so much greater than my trial, and even have a plan for me to make it through and shine for You. Draw me all the closer to Yourself, O Lord. I submit to You in the midst of all the mess. I choose Your way.
