Pray for Nigeria

Perhaps 125,000 Christians have been murdered by Boko Haram, Fulani and other Muslim terrorists in Nigeria since 2019. Up to 19,000 churches have been burned and about five million believers have been displaced from their homes. In fact, in 2025 alone, some 7,000 Christians have already been martyred.

The numbers differ from various sources, but all are so alarming that U.S. President Donald Trump recently designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern.” Since then, a call to action has erupted throughout the world on various news and social media outlets.

But the persecution of Nigerian Christians is not new to prayer warriors here at the Prayer Wall. We have long been praying through the news, attack after vicious attack, for both the persecuted in Nigeria and their persecutors. This outcry, with the world finally taking notice and heated pressure bearing down upon Nigeria’s government to do something about the slaughter, is a direct answer to our prayers.

As you pray through the posts below, pray also for the salvation of Nigeria’s president, Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, who was born Muslim and chose a Muslim running mate, but attended an Anglican primary school and married an ordained pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Oluremi “Remi” Tinubu. Together they have three children, Zainab Abisola, Habibat and Olayinka. Remi is also stepmother to his three children from previous relationships, Olajide (deceased), Folashade and Oluwaseyi. He claims he has never tried to convert Remi to Islam because his country honors freedom of religion, and yet he has allowed the slaughter of Christians to not only continue but increase.

Lord, please lift the veil from Bola Tinubu’s eyes, so he will see You as You truly are. Give him dreams and visions of Jesus showing him the way to salvation. Strike him with such fear of You that he lays down all his excuses and falls at Your feet in surrender to the One True God. Break the chains that have bound him to Islam and to turning a blind eye to mass murder, abductions, rapes and other horrible evils perpetuated by Muslims, not only against Christians but against followers of Islam, as well. Give him wisdom, resources, courage and Your Spirit’s leading and empowering to stop the horrible violence in his country and allow people to truly and freely worship the one and only God Most High. Protect every Christian from persecution and harm, and grip every Muslim with such hatred for violence and murder they will turn from Islam, seek Truth with all their hearts and find Jesus. In His name, Amen.
