Let’s pray for the salvation and rescue of those who are in need after at least 30 tornadoes ripped through Kentucky, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, Mississippi and Tennessee this weekend. At least 70 are feared dead in Kentucky alone, where the city of Mayfield was hardest hit.
Lord, please protect those who are yet facing more storms; comfort those in shock and mourning loved ones; rescue those in need; heal the injured; provide food, water, warmth and shelter for those who are without; and please do it all in such a way that they will know You are the One coming to save them. When people cry out to You, hear them, O Lord, and answer. Bring Christians to them to share Your Good News as they tend to the needs of those who are hurting. For those who have run from You for so long and now find themselves with nothing to stand on, give them a deep longing for You that drives them to climb over every wall they’ve built against You. Open their eyes to see Your greatness and love, their ears to hear Your voice calling them to You, their minds to discern Truth from lies, and their hearts to yearn for the more they were created for (John 10:10). Draw families together in prayer to seek You for protection, provision, healing and salvation for all who have been affected by the devastation and for those with authority to provide resources for rebuilding and restoration. Call out churches to send rescue teams and to provide for the needs of those who are suffering. Send Christian counselors to help those affected by trauma to healing and freedom. And save the lost, O Lord. Bring forth something beautiful from out of this terrible tragedy (Romans 8). In Your name. Amen.
