INDIA: Floodwaters tumbled over Dharali village in the Himalayas of Uttarakhand state Tuesday after a cloudburst. More than 100 people are missing, about 190 were rescued, and at least five are dead.
CHINA: Heavy rains and flash floods overwhelmed HONG KONG and left five dead in Guangdong province over the last few days.
FRANCE: At least one is dead, another is missing, and 13 people have been injured in a wildfire blazing through south France since Tuesday, the country’s largest since 1949.
GHANA: A military helicopter crash killed eight on Wednesday, including the country’s ministers of defense and environment.
USA: Quornelius Radford, an army sergeant at Fort Stewart military base in Georgia, shot and injured five soldiers Wednesday. Last weekend, former soldier Michael Paul Brown killed four elderly people at a bar in Anaconda, Montana. Last week, Austin Robert Drummond killed the parents, grandmother and teenage uncle of a baby found abandoned in Tennessee.
Lord, in every country and situation mentioned above—the fire, the floods, the crash, the shootings—awaken hearts to Your love. Rescue those in danger, comfort those who grieve, and speak to the hearts of those who are afraid or hurting. Break the chains that bind shooters Quornelius, Michael and Austin to satan and his purposes. Heal their minds and hearts and show them the way to salvation. In India and China, where so many are cut off from Your gospel message, make the way for those who are hurting to hear the good news about Jesus in a way they can easily understand and be saved. Touch each heart also in France, the USA and Ghana in such personal ways they will at last realize You are the One they long for. When they cry out to You, answer them, O Lord, in a way they will recognize You. Give the lost a hunger for peace, meaning, acceptance and love; and then satisfy them with Your felt presence. Bring Christians to them to show them Your love, care for their needs and share the good news of Your salvation. Bless Your people abundantly in each of these places so they will also abundantly share with those in need around them. Bring Christian counselors, medical workers and other aid workers to those in need. Push back the enemy’s purposes, and bring forth Yours. Convince us of Your truth. Let us feel Your love like never before. And bring forth Your Kingdom in every heart, home, city and nation. Yes, Lord, awaken the whole Earth to Your salvation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
