Three girls, Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, Bebe King, 6, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, died and eight other children were injured, five of them critically, in a knife attack at a dance school in Southport last week. Two adults also sustained injuries while protecting the children.
Father God, please heal those who are wounded, and comfort family members and others who loved Alice, Bebe and Elsie. When they cry out to You in their grief and anguish, please answer them with Your felt presence. Carry them through this difficult time in a way that they know it is You, and use this terrible event to bring forth a hunger for You in every heart, a longing for the God of love and for salvation that gives eternal life. Bring Christians to these families to show them Your love. Provide Christian counselors and ministers to help the children and others affected by the trauma to healing of the heart and salvation.
False rumors that the 17-year-old UK-born attacker is an Islamic migrant sparked anti-immigrant protests throughout the UK over the weekend, which have continued into this week. More than 400 demonstrators have been arrested for setting fire to mosques and hotels housing asylum seekers, among other violent acts.
Lord, please protect those in danger, and give authorities and police wisdom as they deal with the violence. Most of all, Father, we ask You for every. heart, whether immigrant, police or rioter. Press a deep hunger for You inside them, a yearning for more than what they’re looking for. Show immigrants that their freedom is only found in Christ. Show rioters that violence cannot cast out their fear; only perfect Love can. Show those seeking to quell the violence that only Your rule brings true peace. Awaken the UK to You, O Lord. Bring forth power encounters where Perfect Love overcomes every heart gripped with fear. May hundreds, even thousands turn to You and be saved.
