As Holy Week approaches and we remember Jesus’ death and resurrection, let’s pray now for every heart to awaken to Christ’s love.
Father God, throughout our nation and the world, so many have yet to hear the good news that You loved us so much You gave Your only Son to die on the cross for our sins so we can have eternal life. Make the way for them to hear. So many others have heard, and yet continue in darkness and sin. Oh, Lord, what will it take for our hearts to finally hunger and thirst for You such that we will let go of the temporary, of-this-world things we’ve held onto, and grab hold of what is eternal? What will it take for whole families, cities, nations, the entire world to turn our eyes to Holy God — who gave His Son so that we can truly live — and worship You alone? What will it take? Wars? Persecution? Terrorism? Rampant violence? Off-the-charts sin? Social outcries? Loss of jobs? Fuel and other shortages? Storms? Fires? Earthquakes? Loss of homes, loved ones? Broken marriages, families? Broken hearts and lives? Corruption? Loss of freedom? Panic attacks? A pandemic? O Lord, if we do not turn to You now, after all that has happened and is about to happen, then when? Please, Lord, change our minds and hearts. Turn our eyes to You alone as our Savior. Remind us of Your death on the cross for our sin and the resurrection power within Your hand. Raise us up from the graves we’ve made for ourselves, and make us a people after Your own heart. You died for us, now empower us to live for You. By Your resurrection power, revive us now, O God. We ask You for a Great Awakening, beginning in our own hearts and spreading through our families, cities, and all across the earth. Show signs and wonders. Give us dreams and visions. Acts 2. Prophesy to us about Your abundant love and grace. Give us courage to surrender everything to worship You alone. Tear down every lie with Your Truth. Awaken us, Lord, to You, and bring about a world-wide revival. In the name of the One who is able to do exceeding abundantly above all we could ask or imagine, to You alone, Jesus, be all glory in Your church and as You draw all nations to Yourself. Amen.
