What was once whispered a “quiet” revival in the United Kingdom is now full-blown, with Bible sales skyrocketing, new church plants rising up and young people, especially young men, returning to church..
Last month, more than 7,000 people gathered in London for an evangelistic crusade, and about 2,000 (mostly young people) made decisions for Christ. The week leading up to the event, members of 2819 Church in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, shared Christ on London’s streets, while Pastor Philip Anthony Mitchell led a training for about 60 UK-based pastors. “As the world gets a bit darker, people are longing and looking for something to give them a bit of hope,” said Sam Hailes, editor of Premier Christianity. (CBN News, March 13)
When asked how Christians can pray for the UK during this exciting time, Sam answered, “Wisdom in how to disciple a new generation of people coming through. We have people turning up to church who have no idea what the Bible is. They have no Christian family or background. And I’ve heard a number of stories (of) people just walking in, not even being invited, just turning up at church. And that’s a wonderful trend. It’s being called ‘contactless curiosity.’ This curious generation is just coming through our doors. But it does present challenges. So please pray for pastors (that churches will) be able to disciple new Christians well. And that all of us will play our part in teaching these timeless truths to a new generation.”

Lord, we thank You for all these lives changed. Please grow them in their newfound faith, secure them in vibrant churches that are grounded in the Word and filled with love. Give them boldness to share Your good news with others in need of salvation. Thank You for the faithfulness of 2819 Church, that they have not hoarded the treasure of intimacy with You, but have traveled beyond borders to share with others, so they, too, can know the peace, love, joy and eternal life that come only through faith in Jesus. Empower Your church all across the world with love, faith and deep knowledge and understanding of Your Word. Make us bold to stand for You, even in the midst of persecution, to love our persecutors and to share Christ with those who so desperately need You. Make us lights in the midst of this present darkness, and bring forth revival all across these nations and the entire world. Make the way where there seems to be no way for every heart to hear Your good news such that they can easily understand it and be saved. As we pray right now, Lord, show each one of us the part You want us to play in leading the lost to You. Move like never before. Answer every prayer of faith in powerful ways that all who see will know only You could do that. Heal the sick, the blind, the lame. Break the chains of addictions, strongholds and demons. Set the captives free. Show Yourself strong in the eyes of all the world. May every knee bow and every tongue confess that You alone are God. Bring forth Your kingdom here on Earth as it is in Heaven. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
