Christians in Iran Ask for Prayer

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, 86, a father of worldwide terrorism whose regime executed perhaps more than 30,000 of his own countrymen in recent days, died in an air strike during Operation Epic Fury.

The joint US and Israeli attack on leaders and military targets came after talks with Iran aimed at stopping their production of nuclear weapons failed. Israeli air strikes yesterday also executed the Iranian Chief of Staff of the armed forces, seven members of the top Iranian security leadership in Tehran and 40 senior commanders.

Iran has vowed revenge, firing missiles at Israel, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates. Most missiles were shot down by those countries, but several deaths have been reported (three in UAE, eight in Israel, one woman and three US servicemen in Kuwait).

“Given this escalation, we call for urgent prayers for the people in Iran, Palestinian Territories, Israel, Syria, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon and especially for our brothers and sisters,” writes Open Doors (February 28). “Please join in praying

  • “For Christians in these countries to remain vessels of hope, faith and light to their neighbours. Pray that they will rely on God these days.
  • “For peace in these countries, asking the Lord to protect and strengthen the people involved.
  • “That those in power would exercise wisdom and restraint in their actions.
  • “For the lives of all citizens to be protected.

“As an Iranian and as a Christian, I speak with a heavy heart…. I do not celebrate war, nor do I take lightly the suffering it brings to ordinary families in Iran, in Israel and across the region. Every life is precious before God.

“Yet as an Iranian, I also cannot ignore the deep longing for freedom that has lived in the hearts of our people for generations. If this painful moment becomes a turning point toward justice and true liberty, then my prayer is that it leads not to greater destruction, but to the restoration of dignity, hope and peace.

“As followers of Christ, we pray for the protection of the innocent, for restraint among leaders, and for a future where Iran and the region may know freedom without fear. May God bring light out of darkness and peace out of turmoil.”

Iranian Christian

“Heavenly Father, we join with our brothers and sisters in Iran and the region in calling for peace and protection over citizens in those countries. Please strengthen our church family to be salt and light in the midst of crisis, and may Your kindness and mercy be powerfully present. Give wisdom and restraint to all decision-makers and let hope, love and freedom reign in Iran. Amen.”

Ongoing prayers for Iran at PrayerWall.pw:

  • Pray for protection over the innocent, for the quick release of political prisoners, and for thousands forced to serve terrorism to now repent and serve the One True God of Love and Freedom.
  • Pray for angels in the midst of battle, fighting for the peoples of Iran to know the Living God.
  • Pray terrorism will fall and God will raise up leaders who care for the peoples of Iran to rule the nation with love, integrity, wisdom from God, truth and freedom.
  • Pray Christians will rise up as light in the darkness during this time of unrest, following the Spirit’s lead and pointing the lost to true salvation and freedom.
  • Pray every heart will hunger for Truth, bravely seek Christ, experience Him in powerful ways and be saved. Pray lives will be so transformed by His love, everyone around them will notice and also hunger for Jesus.
  • Pray the veil will be lifted from every Islamic extremist in power or fighting for the terrorist regime, and they will see Christ as He truly is. Pray God will meet them in dreams and visions to point the way to salvation, and they will bravely lay down their false religion of violence, terrorism and murder, repent and turn to the One who is Life, the Truth who sets them free.
