On New Year’s Eve, a sudden fire ripped through a bar at a ski resort in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, killing 40 and injuring 116, ages 14-39.
Survivor Laetitia Place described a miracle she witnessed that night. Trapped with no way out, a friend of hers sat down, holding a cross in his hand. The flames burned all around, but avoided the place where he prayed. Eventually, he was able break a window and escape.
“I just want to thank the Lord,” Laetitia said, grateful both she and her friend made it through the fire. So many others did not. (Olivia Allhusen, Daily Mail, January 2)
Thank You, Father, for the lives that were saved. Thank You for the way You answered the prayer of this young man. Please heal the 116 who were wounded and comfort those who mourn. As each person who survived realizes the second chance You have given, burn within them a longing to know You. Bring Christians to them to share with them Your plan for their salvation from eternal fire, show them the abundant life only found in Christ, and save them. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
