Mass Shootings Thanksgiving Week

A gunman from Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, shot two members of the US National Guard in Washington DC on Wednesday. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, died. Andrew Wolfe, 24, is in critical condition.

Also in mass shootings last week, at least four died, including three children, and ten were wounded at a child’s birthday party in Stockton, California Saturday; one died and three were injured in Dallas, Texas; two died and two were injured in Phoenix, Arizona; and one died and six were injured in Union City, Tennessee.

About 366 people have died in 380 mass shootings so far this year.

Lord, we ask You, please for Andrew’s life, that You will heal him and save him. All throughout our country, Lord, please be a shield around the innocent, especially children. We ask for Your angels to fight for those in harm’s way. Block evil attacks. Wherever someone is contemplating murder, step in and stop them, Lord. Invade their thoughts. Break the chains that bind them to the evil one. Misplace their guns, empty them of bullets or otherwise make them harmlessly misfire. Place police officers nearby who will courageously stop murderers before they even begin their killing spree. Warn those in harm’s way, and guide them to places where they will be safe. For the families of those who have already died from mass shootings, please comfort them. Let them feel Your arms around them holding them through the grief and drawing them to Yourself. Heal those who survived but are injured and afraid, overwhelmed by PTSD and nightmares. Bring Christian counselors to them to help them through and guide them into churches who will love them and show them Christ. Save the lost and increase the faith of those who are saved. Give them courage and grace to forgive. For Rahmanullah and any shooters who are still alive, we ask You, God, to please draw them to repentance and save them. We ask the same for anyone else contemplating murder at this time. Invade their thoughts. Break demonic chains and set them free to know You. Pierce their darkness with Your light. Guide them into churches and other places where they will be loved by Christians who can help them to freedom from their strongholds and mental illness. Rescue them from the situations that twisted their minds into dark places. Save them by Your grace and heal them. Lord, please have mercy on all our young people. So many are growing up abused, rejected, misguided by social media, angry, addicted, anxious, confused about who You created them to be and afflicted by demons. Show them Your love like only You can, draw them to salvation, cleanse them of their sin, demonic attachments and addictions. And heal them, Lord. May they no longer serve the god of death and violence, but make them into passionate worshippers of the One who is Life.
