All 38 Christians we prayed for who were abducted from the prayer meeting in Kwara state are now free, as well as 50 of the 303 schoolchildren taken from St. Mary’s School in Niger state, and all 25 schoolgirls taken from their dorm in Kebbi state. Praise God!
Sadly, another armed attack took place in Kebbi state on November 17. Gunmen abducted 11 worshippers during a church service at Assemblies of God Zuru Missionary Area, none of whom have been recovered.
According to an official statement, security forces and government representatives worked together under the direction of President Bola Tinubu for the release Sunday of the 38 Christ Apostolic Church hostages. But no information is available yet as to where they were held, how they were freed, or whether or not terrorists were apprehended or ransoms paid. The bandits originally demanded N100 million (about $68,700) per CAC captive.
Fifty (some reports say 51) children, ages 10-18, of the 303 kidnapped from St. Mary’s School last Friday undertook brave and risky escapes during the first two days of captivity, and have now reunited with their parents. The military continues their search and rescue operation for the remaining 12 teachers and 253 children still held captive.
After one child managed to escape the day of her capture, the remaining 24 schoolgirls abducted by armed men from their boarding school dorm at the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi state on November 17 are now free. No details were provided as to how the release occurred.
Let’s continue to pray for all captives to be freed and terrorism stopped completely. Go to our Nigeria page to pray specifically for this and for President Tinubu, who has promised greater security presence in the region where these attacks occurred.
This month, U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” due to persecution of Christians, which has put pressure on Nigeria’s president to step up the fight against terrorists in his country.
Lord, thank You for making the way for the safe return home of 51 of the children from St. Mary’s. Thank You also for the quick release of the hostages taken from the CAC prayer meeting: Ade Ajayi (7), Joanah Atolani (7), Imole Aina (9), Ojo Ajayi (10), Moses Ojasope (12), Olutokun Juwon (10), Olutokun Jumbu (12), Akinola Babalola (14), Idowu Mustapha (17), Felicia Ige (64), Timileyin Joshua (22), Elizabeth Rotimi (27), Samuel Ayodele (34), Olutokun Yetunde (23), Olutokun Janet (36), Ebenezer Aina (24), Titilayo Balogun (59), Opeyemi Asaba (24), Grace Balogun (62), Ayodele Taye (42), Oloke Funmilayo (42), Joseph Olaitan (24), Eniola Princess (23), Comfort Atolani (44), Iyabo Ajayi (40), Adeojo Ojasope (19), Funmilayo Joshua (64), Iyabo Michael (32), Bimpe Ige (20), Grace Iyabo Ige (41), Deborah Peter (38), Omolola Mustapha (40), Emmanuel Bamidele (22), Foluso Caleb (42), Funmilayo Ayodele (37), Folorunso Bamidele (42), and Akinola Toluwani (24). Please be with them now in powerful ways, healing their bodies, minds and hearts, and comforting them with Your love.
Please rescue every person taken captive last week. Surround them with Your angel armies, so clearly visible to the guards that they drop their weapons in fear of the Lord and either abandon the hostages and run, or fall to their knees before You in repentance. Don’t let any of the terrorists get away with evil, but bring them to justice or to salvation. Give them dreams of Jesus calling them to salvation. Talk to them every moment of the day, overturning enemy plans. Get up in their face. Invade their space. Fill them with such remorse and repulsion over their evil deeds they turn to You and bring hundreds more with them from darkness to Light.
Please draw near to the families of the hostages still awaiting freedom. Calm their fears with Your perfect love. Be a Shield around every believer in all of Nigeria. Make the way for the violence to end. Save Nigeria’s Muslim President Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu and all government, military and other leaders, and give them wisdom, courage, resources, effective intelligence and everything they need to find every terrorist cell and defeat it. Give President Trump wisdom, as well, to know how to encourage or challenge Tinubu to eliminate terrorism and provide safety and religious freedom for their citizens.
