BANGLADESH: A 5.5 earthquake Friday in Dhaka and a 3.3 aftershock in Ashulia Saturday killed at least ten and injured more than 450. Lord, in the midst of panic and fear, please step in with Your peace. Comfort those who mourn, heal the wounded and rescue those in trouble. Give the lost a hunger for You, and make the way for them to hear the gospel clearly. Meet them in their dreams and talk to them throughout the day. Break the chains that bind them to false religions, and cast out every fear with Your perfect love.
VIETNAM: Many days of rain and floods in south and central Vietnam have killed more than 90, with at least 12 still missing. About 63 of the deaths were in the mountains of Dak Lak province. This comes after several typhoons back-to-back killed nearly that many already in the north and central areas of the country. In THAILAND, at least 13 have died in floods. Lord, please have mercy on Vietnam and Thailand. In the midst of their trials, come and meet each struggling heart in powerful ways. Cause the lost to lay down their worship of idols and spirits and turn to the Living God. For You see them. You hear their cries, and You love them. Show them Your love now, Lord. Bring Christians to them to tell them the good news about Jesus and to help them rebuild their lives.
CANADA: Teachers used pepper spray and a bear banger to fend off a grizzly that wounded 11 fourth and fifth graders in British Columbia Thursday. Seven of the children were treated on the scene, but four are in critical or serious condition. In JAPAN, more than 13 people have been killed in bear attacks since April. Thank You, Lord, for the bravery of these teachers and for saving these children’s lives. Please draw them all to You now. Meet them in the middle of the night when they wake up from bad dreams. Chase out their fear with Your perfect love. Show them the way to salvation. We ask You the same for those who have been terrorized by bears in Japan and those mourning the loss of loved ones. Make the way for them to hear Your good news and open their hearts to receive You as Savior.
MYANMAR: Two boats carrying mostly Rohingya migrants capsized in the Andaman Sea between THAILAND and MALAYSIA two weeks ago, one carrying about 70, the second carrying about 230, with only 13 rescued. Most are still missing. More than 5,100 Rohingya refugees have left Myanmar and Bangladesh by boat so far this year, with nearly 600 reported dead or missing. Lord, Rohingya Muslims have faced so much persecution, even genocide. And yet, they do not know the One True God who made the way for their salvation through Your Son Jesus. Please draw near to those who mourn, those who are afraid, those in danger and those looking for a way of escape. Let them see You, hear You. Meet them in their dreams and point them to Jesus as the only Way, Truth and Life. Have mercy on them, please, Lord. Awaken every Rohingya heart to Your love, and rescue them from danger, harm and death in such a way they know it is You. Bring about a church planting movement among them with thousands turning to faith in Christ. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
