38 Christians Abducted from Prayer Service

(Updated 9 a.m.) Praise God ALL 38 of the Christians abducted in Eruku are now FREE! As well as 51 of the more than 300 schoolchildren abducted last week (See yesterday’s post). Let’s continue to pray for ALL captives to be freed and terrorism stopped completely in Nigeria.

Three Christians died and at least 38 were abducted, including the pastor, last Tuesday, when gunmen attacked a prayer service at Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara state, Nigeria the night after 25 schoolgirls were kidnapped from their dorm in Kebbi state, and days before 300 children and 12 teachers were taken from a Catholic school in Niger state.

The bandits are demanding N100 million (about $68,700) per CAC captive as ransom. At least 30 of the 38 taken are female, and at least nine are children.

In addition, five people were killed in Amadu community, Taraba state by armed Fulani militants the night before the CAC attack. In fact, 27 people have died in less than two weeks in Amadu and surrounding communities, where attackers burned homes, prompting protesters to demand increased security presence.

This month, U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern” due to persecution of Christians. He previously designated Nigeria as a CPC in December 2020 during his first term in office, but the designation was reversed the following year under the Biden administration.

The persecution of Nigerian Christians is not new to prayer warriors here at the Prayer Wall. In fact, we have a designated Pray for Nigeria page. But the world finally taking notice of such genocide and oppression is an answer to prayer.

Lord, we cry out to You for Ade Ajayi (7), Joanah Atolani (7), Imole Aina (9), Ojo Ajayi (10), Moses Ojasope (12), Olutokun Juwon (10), Olutokun Jumbu (12), Akinola Babalola (14), Idowu Mustapha (17), Felicia Ige (64), Timileyin Joshua (22), Elizabeth Rotimi (27), Samuel Ayodele (34), Olutokun Yetunde (23), Olutokun Janet (36), Ebenezer Aina (24), Titilayo Balogun (59), Opeyemi Asaba (24), Grace Balogun (62), Ayodele Taye (42), Oloke Funmilayo (42), Joseph Olaitan (24), Eniola Princess (23), Comfort Atolani (44), Iyabo Ajayi (40), Adeojo Ojasope (19), Funmilayo Joshua (64), Iyabo Michael (32), Bimpe Ige (20), Grace Iyabo Ige (41), Deborah Peter (38), Omolola Mustapha (40), Emmanuel Bamidele (22), Foluso Caleb (42), Funmilayo Ayodele (37), Folorunso Bamidele (42), and Akinola Toluwani (24).

These are the names we know of the CAC victims, but please rescue every person taken captive this week, especially the innocent children. Surround the hostages with Your angel armies, and make them so clearly visible to their guards they drop their weapons in fear of the Lord and either abandon the hostages and run, or fall to their knees before You in repentance. Open up the way for the immediate escape of every victim. Don’t let any of their captors get away with such evil, but bring them to justice or to salvation. Give them dreams of Jesus calling them to salvation. Talk to them every moment of the day, overturning the enemy plans. Get up in their face. Invade their space. Fill them with such remorse and repulsion over their evil deeds they turn to You and bring hundreds more lost with them from darkness to Light.

Please draw near to the hostages and to their families. Let them feel Your presence with them. Calm their fears with Your comfort and peace. Heal their minds and hearts. Give them deep faith, and flood them with love and forgiveness for their enemies. Use them to share the good news and bring all the more lost into Your kingdom.

Be a Shield around every believer in all of Nigeria. Make the way for the violence to end. Save Nigeria’s Muslim President Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu and all government, military and other leaders, and give them wisdom, courage, resources, effective intelligence and more to find every terrorist cell and defeat it. Give President Trump wisdom, as well, to know how to encourage or challenge Tinubu to eliminate terrorism and provide safety and religious freedom for their citizens.
