Missionary evangelist Alexander Wurm and his 22-year-old daughter, Serena, died in a plane crash Monday, while taking humanitarian aid to Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa. The small aircraft, a Beech B100, crashed into a waterway in a residential area of Coral Springs, Florida, just after it took off from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport.
Alex was the founder of Ignite the Fire Ministry, which empowers youth through missions and evangelism across the Caribbean. He “devoted his life to serving others—both through his actions and by sharing the gospel of Jesus across the globe,” the ministry wrote on Facebook. “His legacy of faith and compassion touched countless lives.
“Serena, following in her father’s footsteps, was a beacon of empathy and hope, inspiring all with her commitment to humanitarian work. Together, their final journey embodied selflessness and courage, reminding us of the power of service and love.”
Alex leaves behind his wife, Candace, and two children, James (17) and Christiana (20).
Lord, thank You for these lives well-lived. May their kindness, love, selflessness and passion for the gospel live on in all the young people whose lives have been changed by the Lord through Alex and Serena. Please wrap Your arms around Candace, James, Christiana and others who are mourning. Speak tenderly to them, and let them feel Your comfort and peace. Carry them in Your arms through this difficult time, and raise up those who will continue the ministry and bring many more young people into Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Many folks may ask, Why Lord, did these two have too perish? We cannot offer thee reason, but it was thee Will of El Shaddai. Father na Daughter perished exercising their “gifts” via compassionate na caring hearts while glorifying our Creator. James 2:17 / 4:17. As “following believers” we were not invited to SERVE but to “GO” Matthew 28: 18-20.
