On the same day, a mayor who spoke out against cartel crime was gunned down in Uruapan, Michoacan state. Then on Monday, 13 suspected drug cartel members were killed in a shootout with police in Sinaloa state. More than a year of conflict in that region has led to at least 1,700 dead, 57 of those minors, and nearly 2,000 missing.

CHINA: Five mafia members have been sentenced to death for their role in scam operations in MYANMAR. A total of 21 Bai family members and associates were convicted of fraud, murder and other crimes.

FRANCE: On the holiday island of Oléron Wednesday, a local driver, 35, rammed his car into several people, injuring ten and hitting five, with two in critical condition, and then set the car on fire. As police arrested him, he yelled, “Allah Akbar.” (Allah is greatest).

UNITED KINGDOM: Ten people were injured, nine of them critically, in a mass-stabbing terror attack on a London-bound train Saturday night. The suspect, Anthony Williams, 32, has been arrested.

USA: At least 13 have died and nine are missing after a UPS plane crashed at Louisville’s international airport, spreading flames for nearly a mile. Two people died in flooding in New York City last Thursday.

BRAZIL: At least 132 people died, including police officers, last Tuesday in a large-scale raid of the criminal Comando Vermelho gang involved in drug and arms trafficking.

Loving Father, please rescue those who are trapped, in danger or missing. Heal those who are injured, comfort those who mourn, provide for those in need, and rebuild the lives and homes of those who have lost so much. In the midst of terror, bring peace through Your love. Speak to those who fear for the future, and show them Your plan for their salvation. Do all these things in such a way that they will know You are the One who did that. When they cry out to You, answer them. Place within every soul a deep thirst for You, especially Anthony Williams, the Bai family and others who have been arrested. Break every chain that has bound them to the evil one, remove every barrier to salvation and give them courage to choose You as their Lord. Bring loving Christians to them to share Your Good News. For Christians who are injured or who have lost loved ones, please carry them through this difficult time like only You can. Renew their strength and empower them to encourage others around them who are also hurting, offering them hope, a safe shoulder to cry on, and the way to salvation. Bless Christians so abundantly they will also abundantly bless others in need, as they share Your good news with the lost. Bring forth a mighty movement of Your Spirit all across each of these nations, leading thousands to faith in You. Open the eyes of the spiritually blind to see You as You truly are, and awaken every heart to Your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
