A World in Need: Headlines for Prayer

Due to ongoing violence in HAITI, Doctors Without Borders has permanently closed its emergency care center in the capital of Port-au-Prince, now 90% gang-controlled. Lord, please provide for those in need of medical care and bring an end to the violence in Haiti. Protect innocent civilians and children from harm, and meet every gang member in such powerful ways they will drop their weapons in fear of the Lord and surrender to You.

Violence along the AFGHANISTANPAKISTAN border ended in a ceasefire Sunday. An estimated 60-200 people died, and more than 400 were injured. Lord, as Muslims fight against Muslims, give every heart in both these nations a deep hunger for Jesus. Meet them in their dreams and in visions during the day. Show them the way to salvation. Don’t let even one more person die with without knowing the One True God who is Love.

IRAN-backed Houthi rebels detained over 20 United Nations employees on Sunday from YEMEN and other nations, a day after raiding a U.N. facility in Sanaa. Another 11 U.N. staffers were questioned and then released. On August 31, Houthis detained 19 employees. Although they later released the UNICEF deputy director, they still hold more than 50 people associated with aid groups, civil work and the now-closed U.S. Embassy in Sanaa. Lord, please meet every Houthi in their dreams and show them Jesus. Give them such a fear of You they will stop all their violence and surrender their lives to Love. Protect these aid workers from many nations who are now held captive. Remind them who You are and how much You love them. Give them a hunger for You, and when they cry out to You, answer them and save them.

Last weekend, suspect Joseph Sunday of Washington, D.C., drove his car into a child’s front-yard birthday party in Bladensburg, Maryland, USA killing a woman and injuring eight children and five adults. Lord, please heal the minds, hearts and bodies of these children and others who experienced this horrible event. Show them Your love and draw them into Your kingdom. Make a way for all those who don’t know You, including Joseph, to hear the good news and be saved.

Flooding due to the remnants of Typhoon Halong in Alaska, USA displaced more than 2,000 people, who now may not be able to return to their homes for at least a year and a half. Hardest hit was Kipnuk, with 90% of their homes destroyed. In Kwigillingok, some 36 homes were washed away. Lord, thank You for saving so many lives. Now, please make the way for every person affected by the floods to hear Your good news and be saved. Bring Christians to them who will love them, provide for their needs, and share the gospel in a way they can easily understand. Give every lost person such a hunger for You they will seek You with all their hearts and surrender to Your grace.
