INDIA, PAKISTAN: Heavy rain on Tuesday caused flash floods and landslides, killing more than 280, while rescuers search for more than 80 still missing in the Himalayan mountains of Kashmir.
EUROPE: As temperatures soar and wildfires rage across GREECE, PORTUGAL and SPAIN, thousands have been displaced and at least three have died. About 15 firefighters have been hospitalized.
SERBIA: Thousands of antigovernment protesters across the country turned violent this week, with dozens detained or injured.
MEDITERRANEAN: At least 27 died, but 60 were rescued, when two boats carrying more than 90 migrants from SOMALIA and other nations capsized. The vessels set sail together from LIBYA to ITALY, but as one sank, passengers climbed into the other, and it also capsized. More than 700 have died so far this year trying to cross the Sea, and a total of 25,000 since 2014.
ARGENTINA: At least 100 hospital patients have died from medical fentanyl contaminated with bacteria.
RUSSIA-UKRAINE: Each side traded 84 prisoners of war this week. Civilians were among the Ukrainians returned.
CANADA: Over 700 wildfires, more than 150 of them out of control, burn across the country, affecting tens of thousands of citizens.
Lord, please comfort those who mourn, protect those in danger, rescue those who are trapped, heal the wounded and mend the hearts and minds of survivors. Release them from traumatic memories and comfort them with Your love. Meet every heart affected by these tragedies in such dramatic ways, they will see Your plan of salvation and surrender to Your love. Bring Christians to them to love them, counsel them, heal their wounds and share Your Good News. Awaken Serbia, India, Ukraine, Russia, Argentina, Somalia, Libya, Greece, Portugal and the whole world to You, In each of these countries, raise up a generation of passionate followers of Christ who will love others with all Your heart and lead their nations in Your good paths. Lord, You know every heart. For those who don’t yet know You, please give them a deep hunger for You. Lift the veil from their eyes so they will see You as You truly are and surrender to Your love. Draw them into loving churches grounded in truth. Make a way for Hindus, Muslims and other unreached peoples in these countries to hear the Gospel in a way they can easily understand. Set them free to know You and to spread Your love to the nations. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
