Persecution News from India

Several states in India have passed anti-conversion laws, and Christians are suffering greatly. Hindu extremists have busted down church doors and assaulted worshippers in the midst of services, and when the police show up, it is not the violent attackers who are arrested, but the pastors and Christians. In some parts of India, believers must hide their faith and meet in secret. Here are some recent reports from Global Christian Relief:

“I have not stopped sharing the gospel and never will,” said a Christian man imprisoned falsely for his faith. When he visited a new believer and prayed for him, neighbors called the police, falsely accusing him of forced conversions. He was thrown in jail, where the prison guards refused to give him a place to sleep. But the man began to pray quietly in his cell, despite threats and mistreatment, and another Christian prisoner secretly passed him a Bible. Soon, other inmates asked him to pray for them, as well. He was released after a month, but faces ongoing legal battles.

Pray God will strengthen his faith and use him in powerful ways in the midst of continuing accusations and legal battles against him. Pray the prisoners who saw his faith and felt his loving prayers will turn to Jesus and be saved. Pray God will open the eyes of spiritually blind Hindu neighbors, prison guards and those who arrested him, and set them free from slavery to demons, so they will surrender their lives to Jesus and be saved.

“Renounce Christ, or we will kill you,” is the ultimatum villagers gave their Christian neighbors. They summoned the believers to a town meeting, and then surrounded them, armed with sticks. When the Christians refused to renounce their faith, villagers brutally beat them, burned their Bibles and homes, and chased them into the forest, where they remain homeless.

Pray God will comfort these Christians with His love, provide for all their needs, restore what they have lost, and bring them to a safe place to call home. Pray He will meet villagers in their dreams, showing them the way to salvation, convicting them of sin and bringing them to repentance.

An angry mob surrounded a Christian family of six, demanding they renounce Jesus. When they refused, the crowd threw all of their belongings out of their house and warned them never to return. They are now homeless and hiding in the forest.

Lord, please surround this family with Your angels, protect them from harm, grow them in faith and love, provide for all their needs, and bring them to a safe home. Give them grace to forgive their neighbors, and draw each persecutor’s heart to You with a deep longing for truth and love. Visit them in their dreams, get up in their face each day, and show them You alone are the Way to salvation.

A Hindu nationalist mob brutally attacked worshippers during a church service, including the pastor’s family. Instead of arresting the attackers, however, police detained the Christians for nine hours without food or water. Now, the pastor faces false charges of forced conversions. His family has gone into hiding.

Lord, please protect this pastor’s family and all the Christians in this village. Surround them with Your angels and block every attack planned against them. Set the pastor free from all charges, release him from prison, and reunite him with his family. Convict these violent Hindus of their sin, and lift the veil from their eyes so they can see You as You truly are. Open their hearts to desperately seek Truth and find You.

Laxmi and her sister were worshipping when a violent mob attacked their church. Police arrested the sisters and placed them in a jail cell with five other women. Frightened and feeling like criminals, the sisters began singing hymns. The other women asked them to sing more. They surrounded them, clapping and using plates and glasses as instruments. Laxmi and her sister shared the gospel with them and others in the prison continually until they were released on bail five days later. Despite continuing hardship, Laxmi believes they were placed in jail on purpose to spread God’s Word.

Pray for their ongoing case to be resolved and for all Christians who are persecuted in India. Pray all who heard the gospel through them will be saved.

A tragic accident resulted in the death of a Christian couple’s son, but his burial was blocked by local Hindu residents who opposed the burial of a Christian on village land.

Pray for this family and other Christians who face severe persecution for their faith. Ask God to give them favor with their Hindu neighbors, and awaken every heart in that village to His love.

• Pray God will place a deep hunger for Him in the hearts of every person in India, awakening them to His love.
• Pray He will break the chains that bind Hindus to more than 3,000 false gods, and set them free to worship Him alone.
• Pray for legislation to be overturned and reversed in states that restrict conversions, and for Christians to be protected by law from brutal attacks. 
• Pray God will block anti-Christian laws from being signed in other Indian states.
• Pray for God to surround every Christian with armies of angels shielding them from persecution and harm.
• Pray persecutors will visibly see those angel armies, tremble in fear of the Lord, repent and be saved.
• Pray God will miraculously rescue Christians who are in danger.
• Pray imprisoned Christians will feel God’s presence near, and He will embolden and anoint them to spread the Good News with the lost who are also in jail.
• Pray for a special anointing on every believer to share the Good News, and that God will bring to them those who are hungry to hear. Pray for boldness to share, even in the face of opposition, and all will see their faith and God’s love demonstrated through them and be drawn to Christ. 
• Pray for the Gospel to reach every one of the 1,332,045,000 people in India in a way they can easily understand, and their hearts will be moved by Truth that sets them free.
• Pray the Bible will be translated into every language in India and made available to every person.
• Pray God will raise up all the more prayer warriors to fight for the peoples of India.
• Pray for pastors, evangelists, churches Christian orphanages, leadership trainings and other ministries in India, that God will bless them abundantly and give them favor with authorities and everyone around them; that He will provide all their needs so abundantly they will also abundantly bless their communities; that He will shine His light in the darkness through them bringing millions to faith; that churches will multiply again and again until every person in all of India has had the opportunity to choose Christ.
