ETHIOPIA: A boat carrying 157 Ethiopian migrants sank off the coast of YEMEN this weekend, killing at least 76. Some 32 were rescued, but dozens are still missing.

SYRIA: Druze militia killed four on Sunday, when clashes once again broke out in Sweida. Before last month’s ceasefire, more than 1,400 died.

TAIWAN: Five have died in torrential rains, floods and landslides over the past few days. The mountainous area of Maolin recorded more than nine feet of rain since July 28. About 6,000 people were evacuated.

CHILE: A 4.2 magnitude earthquake on Thursday killed six, five of whom were working in an underground copper mine high in the Andes mountains.

SAUDI ARABIA: An amusement park ride in Taif collapsed Thursday, injuring 23 people, three in critical condition.

USA: California’s Gifford Fire has burned almost 50,000 acres in the Los Padres Forest. Meanwhile, the Dragon Bravo Fire in the Grand Canyon ignited July 4 has spread across more than 116,000 acres.

INDONESIA: Mount Lewotobi Laki Laki volcano erupted Friday and Saturday, shooting ash 6.2 miles into the air and blanketing villages.

RUSSIA: The Krasheninnikov Volcano in Kamchatka erupted last weekend for the first time in 500 years, most likely linked to last week’s nearby 8.8 magnitude earthquake that sent tsunami warnings across the world.

Lord, please awaken every heart in each of these countries and situations to Your love. So much danger, death and instability remind us of humanity’s desperate need for You. Please rescue those in danger, comfort those who grieve, and speak to the hearts of those who are afraid or hurting. Touch each heart in such personal ways they will at last realize You are the One they long for. When they cry out to You, answer them, O Lord, in a way they will recognize You. Give the lost a hunger for peace, meaning, acceptance and love; and then satisfy them with Your felt presence. Bring Christians to them to show them Your love, care for their needs and share the good news of Your salvation. Bless Your people abundantly in each of these places so they will also abundantly share with those in need around them. Bring Christian counselors, medical workers and other aid workers to those in need. Lift the veil from the eyes of the lost so they will see You as You truly are and surrender their hearts to You as Savior. In the midst of every trial and tragedy, push back the enemy’s purposes, and bring forth Yours. Convince us of Your truth. Let us feel Your love like never before. And bring forth Your Kingdom in every heart, home, city and nation. Yes, Lord, awaken the whole Earth to Your salvation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
